Whilst some traders are reducing the prices of their 964`s some are increasing theirs [:(]

this one was £9,495 yesterday and is now £10,995

What`s going on here then ?

Yeahhhhhhhh I noticed that too!

As a friend of mine was interested in it, until the next day he noticed it had increased £1k overnight!

Not feeling the Targa rims!

Perhaps the seller has read Total 911 and Phils comment on 964's are a missed opportunity and are on the increase ..Virgin 911 owner said the same last month in the mag.

wheels ...yuck but they say the orignals are there .

And there is no view or comment on the engine ..at that mileage it will need or must have had some attention as the valve guides at that mileage will be shot and the mains and cams lobes will be worn..i should know I'm at that mileage but over 5 years ownership i've rebuilt and have spent a fortune on every aspect of my car - top to bottom.. ooh off to Porsche today to collect a few parts as it never ends....all part of the owner ship ..you need deep pockets!

Remember a car is only worth what someone will pay for it ..but as an owner you can think its worth a fortune .....[;)].

Think they`re taking the p*** really, what genuine buyer who saw the car last week would pay £1500 more this week for the same car.

Imagine one of the many respected Porsche dealers we all know doing this, how long would they last.

Potential buyer of this one better be quick, it might be £12,495 next week [:-]

There seem to be a lot of 964s coming to the market at the moment at quite surprising prices. I keep an eye on Pistonheads as I'm sure a lot of you do and there are a few cars on there at the moment at £17K+ - even one at £22K!! Even more notable is the strength of the LHD pricing. It always used to be the case that LHD cars were worth substantially less than RHD but the strength of the Euro has ensured a ready market from mainland Europe.

The case above might just be an instance where the dealer being, perhaps, not on top of his game realising that the car might be worth more than he originally was asking. Not a great trait I'll admit, but not surprising in what appears to be a rising market. You never know, maybe C2/C4s are heading in the same direction as RS'es!!! We can but dream!!!

Regards

Dave

This happened to a Celebration a couple of months back also - initially advertised at 20K and then jumped to 22K - still sold pretty quickly though.

Takes two to deal, if you aren't happy at any price move on, don't complain, just move on, lifes too short.

No one`s complaining Kevin, it`s good to have a bit of 964 banter on here, keeps the forum flowing [;)]

It suits me if they are going up-does one carry on upping the mileage by using it though?[8|]

value is an interesting discussion all round. The 964's are and good solid from a valuation perspective. The 996's seem to have fallen through the floor. 993's are quite strong, but I notice 997's have had a bit of a hit.

Used 964 special in Total 911 magazine (I usually try to avoid this one as it ignores the front engined models) which states, like many others that the 964 is up and coming values wise.

Also, the market view page at the back of 911 & Porsche World mentions 964s as well. However, Peter Morgan road tests a £16K 996 cab in the same magazine and asks who wants to spend the same money on a 964 when you can have a 996. We know the answer to that one, but its a fair comment nonetheless.

Condition is key, which means if I spend the money getting my car's bodywork right, I'll most likely get my money back.

What about mileage? I was toying with the idea of swopping my 141K car for something with around 100K on it. I had great difficulty finding a buyer for my 190K 944 S2 and I am worried that if I go over 150K I will regret it.

The danger of that is that you go back to square one and start over fixing stuff that you've already done on your own car. So you end up with a car that is slightly more valuable and easier to sell because of the mileage but might end up spending a significant amount getting it up to the standard of your current car. Therefore you're no better off cash wise. A bird in the hand....., better the devil you know..., etc

Give it a couple more years and I reckon good condition cars with 150K on the clock will be trading at £15,000+ [:)]

I've got 151K now on the odometer , so my car Steve is worth more then ;-)

As you say condition is key not the miles ....

Too true Ian, mine's now got 166K on the clock and goes round Oulton Park in just over 2 minutes (with a race car driver at the wheel, not me [;)]) which just goes to show these cars are young at heart [:D]. It's worth more than £15K to me [:)]

Condition is everything I agree. I have bought high mileage cars in the past that have been well looked after and have driven just as well as a low mileage car

As you know,my car is up for sale, guy came to see it on Saturday, suggested £14,000-my reply-wouldn't accept less than £15K with the D90 wheels on it not the Cup 2's as seen although he could have those for £700 more-this is at 106,000 miles.
He thought it was the best he had seen-- could understand my response & had seen a LHD green C2 at £11,000 in Preston which was apparently also for sale by a trader in Buckinghamshire for £19,000.

Funny old world-maybe I should wait for 2 yrs or so.

That`ll be this one then :

not my first choice of colour for a LHD £20k 964 [8|]

Lets face it, prices are all over the place, from £10k - £18k for what look like very similar specced cars.

this one looks OK for the money :
