What's this worth then?...

PORSCHE CARRERA 4 , H reg. 68000 miles, RHD, FPSH, Horizon Blue, recent brakes overhaul, 12 months T&T, Porsche immobiliser, sunroof, CD, aircon, computer, excellent condition.

It's an unmodified Coupe.

Cheers
Andy

Thanks Walt. It's up or £16,750, so I guess he's after £16k. Off to have a look tomorrow.

Any other opinions welcome...

Andy

Sounds nice Andy, Horizon blue is also an unusual colour. Make sure it has full history and check undertray for leaks. Also 68k has clutch been looked at? You say it has a Porsche immobiliser, does it have a cat 1 alarm? Useful to have for insurance purposes.
Good luck, let us know how you get on?

Johannes

Okaaaay, had a look, where do I start?...

Firstly, let me say that I believe the current owner is 100% genuine and a nice decent bloke. I don't think that he should be let loose buying Porsches though.

It does NOT have a FPSH. This is just what I was told, you be the judge... "The last owner was a formula 1 mechanic and serviced it himself. He bought it off a garage who threw away the old receipts, garages do that". To be fair the service book does show a Porsche history prior to that, albeit a while ago.

The HPI certificate the current owner has shows a clean history, just one plate change. However, there have obviously been front end repairs; the under bonnet stickers are missing (have actually been replaced with the label off a tin of Horizon Blue paint), and the VIN plate has been rather messily removed and refitted. Also a rubber grommet near the VIN plate has been painted over. The current owner did not have a PPI.

Apart from that it's a lovely car and goes well, everything seems to work including the electrics and aircon. There are several MOT certificates and I believe the mileage to be genuine.

So, any revised valuations please?

The bit that really worries me is the bit about the VIN plate. I would be treading very carefully here.
You need to find out now if the car has been categorised by DVLA (is that the right term?), you know, Cat C or Cat D. The car sounds like it might have been accident damaged or even a re-built write off. You need to investigate this before you start considering a price.

Good luck

Thanks John. Yes, the VIN worried me as well.
I think I'll just walk away from this one, there are plenty out there at the moment.

Cheers
Andy

I'm definitely with John on this one - walk away. There'll be loads of others and you'll find one with a history you can be happy with.

Indeed Andy , all wise words, walk away.... Please buy one with full s/history and ensure it has an HPI certificate. If 17k ish is your budget try some of our dealer friends such as Northway or Eporsch. You can buy with a great deal more confidence.

Good luck , keep in touch with us. The guys know what they are talking about.
