Has anyone had this done to their 996? I am wondering if it is worth the outlay, does it make the car look better do you think? Is the film type ok or do you need a specialist who will remover the glass and then do it that way? thanks

Hi

Many years ago used a company called Pentagon in London on a Merc I had, superb looked like it was original glass not a bubble or seam in sight!!

Cheers JP.

A fair few companies seem to do this treatment and I quite like the look, but haven't had it done. However, at the risk of 'teaching granny...' make sure the tint applied complies with the law - its not worth the consequencies[:(].

When I got my 996 Turbo, the previous owner had the rear window and two side windows tinted. At first I thought it didn't look too bad, but afterwards I thought about it some more living with it and preferred it without, So I removed the tinting. I must admit I prefer it this way. Personal preference really.

Below is a picture with the tinting done

It does divide opinion.

A lot of cars in the tertiary market have it done - Golfs, BMWs, Mercs, Japanese... along with bigger wheels, lowered suspension, led lights... Not my taste, particularly on a 911. But, it's a personal choice, and at least it can be removed, unlike the factory spec.

My cab came with the rear screen tinted.

I dont really mind and its good to know that if i want to, it can be removed.

But as mentioned before, be careful of what level of tints you do (if you decide to go ahead).

Personally, I would not tint the car at all but thats just my opinion.
