£105 to the DVLA, which includes the assignment fee of £80. You need a V317. Download from this page

http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/search.aspx?keywords=v317

It's very straightforward

I obtained a Retention Document for my 987 plate four weeks ago, and everything turned out to be very simple.

- Sent Form V317 with my old V5C log book, current MOT and £105 fee to my local DVLA office.
- 8 days later (including a weekend and a bank holiday) I received the new registration mark, new tax disc, replacement MOT, and form V948 authorisation to buy new plates.
- Informed my insurance company of the change - no charge from Aviva.
- Bought and fitted new number plates, just £15 with fitting while I waited, from indie PCT in Coventry.
- After a further 5 days I received the new V5C log book and the V778 Retension Document from Swansea DVLA.

All completed in less than two weeks for a total of £120, which included the £80 assignment fee for the new vehicle.

My Retention Document is now with my OPC for my new 981 - due next week. [:)]
