Probably nothing...

... I hope. Having fixed the hose on the old girl I took it for a drive. Its been making a tapping noise for some time now but it seems to have got worse. It drives wonderfully and at 40 plus you cant hear it, but at low speeds and when idling it makes a tapping sound. Reassurance or advice would be great, and hope the video works.

Is it misfiring under load and running on 3 cylinders. Sounds like either a tappet has failed completely or a small or big end has gone.

Probably a knackered tappet then. Worth maybe trying a Forte engine flush and getting some 15/W40 or similar in to see if it improves. If not, not a huge job to get the cambox off to see which one is knackered.

Thanks guys, I used Comma Engine D-Tox last time I filled her up and still have half a tank. Is it worth buying some Forte engine flush? or should I just do the oil change? and is it worth adding this when doing the oil change? http://www.forteuk.co.uk/product.php?id=53/Oil_System_Protector

How do you recommend using the forte flush Alasdair? Some people say leave it in for a couple of days then drain it.Others follow the instructions to the letter and idle for 40 mins after adding then drain.
