Problem after replacing coolant header tank!!!!

I have just replaced a cracked header tank on my 2000 99 Carrera, with only a few scuffed knuckles for my trouble, however I had to disconnect 2 fuel lines to make the tank easier to fit/remove.

Since rebuliding, the engine is noticeably lumpy and the engine check light has come on! [s1][&o]

Has anyone got any ideas if this is a simple fix or will I need to visit my local indie for assistance???

Thanks Damien

I would start by looking for a disconnected vacuum pipe. There is a small one from the throttle body which runs around that area of the compartment. If it is disconnected, it gives you the symptoms you are experiencing. If it is a Tiptronic, there is another small vacuum pipe which runs to the ATF cooler valve, and that runs behind the alternator, so check that too.

Started up today and back it's usual smooth running self, but check engine light is still lit?? Will disconnecting the battery for 15 mins reset it???

Hi Damian
Disconnecting the battery may remove the cel but you will need to go through the process afterwards of " After re-connecting battery" as per the drivers handbook
If you search on this forum there's a link I think explaining a sequence to go through
If your based anywhere near lancs I have a scanner I can turn it off for you
hope this helps
cheers steve
