Problem wishbone mounting

Another Sunday rolling around under the car, this time investigating a knocking noise coming from the front nearside. It turned out to be one of the two bolts that holds the wishbone to the floorpan - it was so loose that I could unscrew it using only my fingers. When I removed it, the threads were badly worn, caused I suppose, by the fact that its been moving around for some time. While I can easily replace the bolt, I'm worried about whatever it screws into; is this a captive nut? I'm concerned that if it is and its threads are also damaged, it will be a pig to replace. Someone please tell me I'm worrying about nothing...

Sorry - (if you are talking the rear mounting point) I believe there is some kind of captive nut (it may or may not be damaged but if the old bolt comes out you should be OK. Once the new bolt is fitted and you will need realignment as the block is the castor mount and will affect your castor, possibly your camber if it has moved sideways.

Good luck,

Tony
