Problem with 996 tip box

I have a 1999 996 Carrera C4 tip, and in all aspects it is a great car. Except for the tiptronic gearbox which, when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, makes a very big thud as it seems to jam into the gear. I've had the gearbox fully overhauled 2.5 years ago. It hammers and judders into second either when under heavyish acceleration on downshifting heading up a hill. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dennis

There was a Wheeler Dealers recently in which they bought a Boxster with a misbehaving tiptronic box and all it (the tip 'box) needed was an oil and filter change. I think the fault was only with or in automatic mode when it would slip out of gear - in manual it worked ok. It doesn't sound the same as your fault. That's the sum of my experience with tiptronic issues, sorry...

It does sound like it might be low on fluid to me too. Worth checking, and maybe get a diagnostic check done to see if there are any fault codes stored.
