Problem with cayenne lights??

I've had my cayenne s for 3 months now - super car - but I have the xenon/self levelling lights fitted. The problem being that the lights dont seem to be self levelling and at night I tend to dazzle other drivers from behind - so much so that they sometimes pull over etc thinking that my lights are on full beam.
I spoke to the porsche dealership and apparently they have the same problem with their demo car - Im still awaiting to hear back from them.
Anyone else have the same problem??
 
I often find I'm dazzlled by the lights if a 4x4 is behind me - are you sure it is not just because they are so high up?
 
When you turn the lights on do they adjust up and down and then find a level? , if so its unlikely that you have a problem.
 
I had the same problem with my Cayenne Turbo had it back at the dealer twice
The first time they said they had adjusted to the lowest level but it was still causing others a problem so the second time they adjusted out of the preset range and it is just fine now

Yeah the lights do find a level when the engine is started but the level is too high - driving down the motorway at night becomes a sucession of people flashing their lights at me thinking mine are on full beam.Taking it back to dealers next week.
 
Thought I had the same problem - and had the dealer check it out - self levelling working fine & alignment correct. But the lights still cause a problem for drivers in front. Interestingly they don't seem to be a problem for on-coming traffic. At some point I will get the dealer to lower the dip setting. In the meantime, selecting the lower ride height does seem to alliviate the problem to some degree.

Any other problems with your Cayenne?
I have had carpet short in passenger footwell,the tailgate struts replaced,problems with the wipers,minor "check lights symbols" other than that really enjoying the car apart from excessive tyre wear Michelins need replacing after 6000 miles!(20")
 
Apart from lights - no problems. Rear tyre replacing at 6000 miles! - that cant be right unless you drive like a maniac?! are you sure theres not a tracking problem/under or over inflation tyres? was the wear even?sounds very expensive to be replacing such huge tyres at 6000 miles.
 
We have our Cayenne for 3mths. Few problems to report. Sat nav broke down, reluctant to work on cold days. Also problems with rear tailgate. We didn't spec comfort pack and find tailgate very difficult to close unless door or window open. This means you have to slam the door closed resulting in other problems ie light broken, top half of tailgate now not working. Porsche say they are aware of the problem and may reto fit power close, anybody else with this problem???
 
Very interested in the fact that OPC say they may fit electronic close as ours also is difficult but the dealer says nothing can be done,please keep informed
What colour and options have you on the car?
 
Not just the rear tyre but all 4 ,even wear all over and the car is used mainly by my wife
but we now have the standard turbo wheels and tyres on over winter and they seem to wear much better the michelins must be very soft

Nice spec, black with black. 20"Alloys, and alot of toys!! List about £54. Didn't think needed power close. Think if enough people complain about tailgate Porsche will be forced into doing something. Do not expect to have to slam door on car costing this much. The salesperson actually said try and keep door open when closing tailgate, great advice with kid an/or dog in the car!!
Except problem with tailgate we have found car to be great. Use it to tow racecar and the air suspension make very smooth ride.

Pity it's so ugly..........

Self levelling on mine seems to be OK, but do have a problem with condensation inside the lights. I seem to remember reading this a lot in a Porsche magazine problem page but I think it was related to boxsters. Is this just one of those things we should live with and wont affect performance of the lights?

The only other niggles I have are to do with the seatbelts not retracting fast enough after you release them meaning that you slam the door on them, and the wing mirror not reverting back to normal when going from reverse to drive. Porsche say that the seatbelt thing is normal and I think will try to get the mirrors reprogrammed or replaced.

Still lovin' it tho!
 
I had the front two belts replaced for the same problem but it was hard work
My lights also fog up I hear that in the USA the dealers are retrofitting bags
of silica similar to what you find in a new camera or breifcase. This is not
normal and spoils the appearance of a 70K car but my OPC will not deal with
it till Porsche UK gives a TSB
Do you have a hesitation problem from rest? or after coasting around bends?
 
Have same problem with boot - have to open another door before slamming the boot,not good in a £50k car.Also the passenger door has started not to shut on occasions and then shut other times. My 8 year old 993 turbo has no problems whatsoever.
 
Tailgate was hard to shut but has got better. Without the power closing I guess its a trade off - decent struts to hold a heavy rear tail gate are going to offer considerable resistance - have got use to it now.
During the 1st long trip got 'transmission problem - visit dealer' warning - dealer checked it out - no fault logged in the OBD no further problem.
Nothing else in 3500 miles.

In 3 months of owning I've had nearside front door handle stick open, Sat Nav packed in, when I rang the dealer the recptionist asked me the imortal question "are you sure you have the option, Sir? !!!!" , gearbox was horrible starting off in 1st from cold the up shift to 2nd was severe, telephone module would not initiate and kept dropping signal and I too get condensation in the Xenons? Apart from problems listed my biggest issue is it takes to long to wash! Does any one know if it fits in the car wash without loosing any body panels?

No - I have not had a hesitation problem.

Did a new set of front seat belts fix the problem?

I am also having one of the headrests replaced as the leather is "sagging".

A reminder to all with expensive tyres - check the pressuer in this cold weather! Low tyre pressure increases the wear considerably and with 4 20" monsters that's going to be more expensive than our petrol bill (still at 13 MPG).
 
Yes the belt replacement belts seem to be OK
Did you say 13mpg on the S?
Our turbo has averaged 15.3 over 7K miles!!
 
Yes - 13MPG for the S!
It ranges between 11 and 20 MPG, but has averaged 13.3 over the 3,300 miles I have done. And no, I haven't really been thrashing it around that much. I spent a week nursing it to an average 17 MPG, but got really bored with it and thought "If I wanted economy I could have saved £10-20k and bought an XC90 or Voyager!".
Bet when I drive it down to the south of Spain in August I might do a bit of cruise control. Otherwise it would be cheaper to charter a yacht.
