Problem With my used Cayenne S

I collected my used 53 plate Cayenne S on 23-Oct-06 from the dealer, upon collection they tell me the car has no MOT so they rush of and get the MOT, keeping me waiting for 2 hours. when it finally comes back the Sat Nav is faulty.

Returned the car to them on the 24-Oct-06 and they assured me the car will be fixed ASAP along with the other things like minor trim scratches I noticed on the day. I collect the car Sunday 29-Oct-06 and the satnav has been fixed, only then to notice that the rear lights both have cracks on them, the dealer agrees to change them ASAP.

1-Nov-06 I take the car in so they can replace the rear lights, then I noticed the Sat nav is not working. So I ask the dealer can I swap the car for something else due to the problems that I experienced, their answer is yes of course but it will cost me £3,500.

What shall I do? as the car has gone back to Porsche UK for repair. The dealer has offered me an extra years car warranty, one driving experience, bottle of cheap bubbly and a umbrella. At the moment they have loaned me a Boxster 987 tiptronic.

Any advice would be much appreicated........thanks
 
Is this car from a main Porsche dealer or an indepentant?
Didn't you notice the trim scratches or cracked rear lights when you had your first test drive and bought the vehicle? the purchase price should have reflected it's condition.
It seems that apart from the MOT which was an unfortunate oversite by the dealer but would have been needed to tax the vehicle, only the sat-nav has gone wrong.
I'd take the extra warranty and gifts.

Assuming the car is from an OPC where you have paid top $ for all the usual protections IMO there is only one option take the dealers generous offer to swap for something fit for purpose and tell him as far as the £3500.00 goes "swivel"[;)]

The car is from an official dealer.

As for swapping it for another car its going to cost me £3,500 so my car trade in is worth £30,000, I just cant afford to lose £3,500 in 2 weeks of ownership. So I guess I'm stuck with it.

Does any one know whats the latest Sat Nav disc set available for a Nov-03 cayenne S ??

Also have any of you fitted after market Park Assist to your car? if so any recommendations for the Lomdon / Essex area?

not fit for purpose, irrespective if new or second hand. speak to trading standards then speak to the dealer again. Get it swapped (at no cost to you) for an alternative model, and if not then reject the car for a ful refund.

 
Dont worry mate. Just contact your local Trading Standards and Porsche Customer services. If you are using finance, include the finance house too. Copy the dealer principal into all correspondance and request a full refund or a like for like replacement.

The car is being sold as Porsche Approved which is a scheme driven by Porsche Cars GB. The dealer is responsible for rectifying such faults prior to sale.

Yes the car should have had an MOT which obviously had run out during its time in stock at the garage (no MOT reminder is sent out and in any case this being an 03 car it would have been it's 1st).
Yes the sat-nav has gone wrong, stuff goes wrong on new and 2nd hand vehicles and would be covered by warranty in any case.
The condition while not up to what you would expect of a 2nd hand car from an OPC must have been "as seen" on the day of the test drive and purchase so I think the customer should take responsibility for purchasing a car that was on reflection not up to his expected standards.

Just to update you all.

I have contacted Trading Standards today, due a reply in the next 3 days.
Having spoken to Porsche customer relations they will contact the dealer on my behalf if I need them to.

The car is supposed to be ready for collection on 9th November

So do should I collect the car and wait for traidng standards to get back to me or leave the car with the dealer until I get a response?
 
Dont collect. I had a car replaced under warranty but it was a massive hassle and the dealer is still giving me a hard time - telling other companies not to deal with me! Had to have words and threaten legal action.

Speak with the Dealer Principal. The line I would take is that the contract between yourself and them was to provide a car "fully approved" and with a whatever point check. As far as I would be concerned they are not fulfilling their side of the contract - when I had issues with a new car they tried to get me to trade it in!!!!! Having a laugh! Stick to your guns!!!!! Create as much crap as you can and it will get resolved! Just IMO of course!
 
IMO, the car is not fit for purpose/unmerchantable quality. You have the right to reject the car and ask for the return of your money etc. You have given them more than enough time to sort out the problems; if they cannot do so, you can reject the car. I do not see why you should be expected to lose £3,500 over 2 weeks.

I am aware that one OPC was most accomodating when this occurred fairly recently.

When you do go along to complain, inform them of the rejection, do so in the public area of the dealership where prospective purchasers can hear what you are saying, not in a private room even if you are offered tea and cake etc. - that tends to concentrate the minds of the staff on the issues and effect of dissatisfaction on future purchasers...

Usual disclaimer, I'm afraid - I am a criminal lawyer and do not specialise in civil mattters. The above is my opinion ony, and I might be wrong [although I am fairly sure that I am right].
 
Bit late on this one I know but we had the Scottish or Northen regional sales guy (can't remember his exact title) from Porsche at our local Glasgow meeting a couple of years ago anyway he went to great lengths to justify the extra expense of buying a used car from an OPC citing examples where scratches on boot opening handle were fails on pre sale check What you are quoting does not quite live up to this alledged level of check as per here http://www.porsche.com/uk/approvedused/au-porscheapproved/ and here http://www.porsche.com/uk/approvedused/au-porscheapproved/ Good luck in your fight
