Problem with New bonnet

I have recently had to fit a new bonnet !!!
But i have a problem with it lining up with the scuttle/ front wing. The near side of the bonnet is much higher than it should be where it meets the scuttle panel and i can not see a way of adjusting it. Any help would be very usefull.

Mal,

AFAIK the height of the panel is adjusted with spacer washers as required. Is it possible the hinge has been deformed on that side, making it too high??

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave,

Assuming that the hinge is deformed, how should I approach its repair? I assumed that as the previous bonnet was level and with no spacers that it would be a simple replacement. If the bonnet is to high and no spacers shold i work on basis of having the mounting point of the bonnet panel beated down?

Mal,

I think if it were me I'd be heading to my favourite body shop. From my limited experience with my local body shop I've noticed that they often take a very brutal attitude to things like this - often one which the car's owner would prefer not to see, and definitely not to know about!!! Whether the problem lies with the bonnet or the hinge can only really be established by physically comparing both hinges. If they are identical (in terms of mounting) I can only suspect that the bonnet mounts may need to be "massaged" a little. I'm no expert in this area I'm afraid and I'm perfectly willing to defer to those who are.

Regards

Dave
