Problem with PCM

I purchased my first Porsche, a 2007 911 C2S from an OPC several months ago. Overall I am over the moon with the cars performance however I do have an intermittent fault with the cars PCM. Occasionally and completely at random the right hand rotary navigation knob at the foot of the PCM does not work and the only way that I can navigate through the Sat Nav, Telephone, Audio etc menu is via the small rotary knob on the multi function steering wheel. When I took it back to the OPC under warranty it was working OK on that day and all they could do was reset the PCM to the factory setting. This has not worked and I am about to re-book the car back to the garage. Has anybody else experienced a similar problem or knows how to rectify it ?

Sounds like a hardware failure at the knob if the multifunction steering wheel works. Insist on a new unit. I have not had any hardware problems, but the software/database population is rubbish.

Does anyone know how to restore the navigation command and the radio station description to the area below the speed on the rev counter? I seem to have 'lost' both the navigation and the radio station description. I would prefer not to have to trawl through the various booklets if i could avoid it.

Thanks.

The display below the rev counter can be selected via the control stalk, in set 'display' you can throught the various options.
However there is normally a display of some sorts, even if it says no radio when the PCM is turned off..

I have pushed and pulled the lever backwards and forwards, to no avail.

I was hoping for an idiot's guide for a non-techie! The handbook is long and seems quite complex.

Perhaps it would be best if I go to a 997 event and someone can sort this out for me?

Pushing it left and right should go through the various options of mpg, remaing fuel, sat nav and TPMS etc

Backwards and forwards should go into the menus for oil and reseting the display as well as other options.
For example you can set the top line of the two to be various options, normally its radio but I have mine set to boost.
There is normally always something displayed, if there is not anything in the lower section it may be another issue?
