Problem with window winder

Drivers side window has just stopped going up and down on the motor.

I heard a crack sound when I attempted to lower it this afternoon. Now, I just hear what seems like slight glass crunching sound (ouch) when I select up or down on the switch.

However,, the window itself can be raised or lowered by pushing on it manually - it sounds as though some gears are moving when I do that and it moves up and down smoothly.

Has anyone else had this issue before? I'm guessing that whatever connects the glass to the winder mechanism has broken and is not a trivial DIY fix.

Thanks...

They certainly were..... a big thumbs up for Autostrasse, my nearest Porsche indi... They managed to do both the window regulator and do its minor service yesterday. And I picked the car up this morning. Total bill for window repair, minor service _and_ brake fluid change was less than the OPC wanted for the window repair alone. Know where I'll be going in future ;-)
