the last 4/5 fuel fill ups ive had problems with blowback and the fuel
nozzle cutting out (as it does when full) every few seconds making filling annoying
and time consuming - at first i suspected an oversensitive nozzle but it happens
every time now despite trying every possible way to hold the nozzle

2002 996 targa

any help or ideas ??

thanks

Check fuse E6. There is a venting valve somewhere in the filler neck, and I've read that a blown fuse can cause exactly this problem.

On early cars there was a problem with the routing of hoses in the tank obstructing the inlet, but it was sorted out in about 2000.

yep , like you my turbo would not swallow a full load. Until I turned the nozel side ways.
After that , no problem but still need to listen for the ''full' gurgling sound , as the nozel does not always come off when she's full.

What! that's how it works! Really. In truth try turning the filler so that the handle is facing the drivers door and the blow back will stop.

Same problem for me, but turning the nozzle sideways with it pointed to the back of the car helps for me as well.

Mine is ok and doesn't do that until you try and put more than 45 litres in when the gauge said it was empty but "they all do that, sir" []

Weird isnt it, I used to have to do this with one of my new beemers in the past, would only fill up if I turned the nozzle sideways!
