Problems resetting the seat position

Hi guys - I've just bought my first Boxster ( 3.2 S tiptronic ) - absolutely amazing car & I've now totally converted over from the Alfa Spider.

I'm gradually getting used to the new settings on the car but cannot seem to reset the seat settings. I've looked in the owners manual and tried following the instructions but evertime I lock the car by the remote & unlock it again the old settings return. This is getting very frustrating especially as the previous owner was a lot shorter than I am.

The only thing I can think of is that the settings were made by another key - as I've only got 1 key with the car I'm wondering if this is the problem.

Do any of you guys have any suggestions ?

Are you sure you are setting the key memory and not just one of the static memories? If I remember rightly from my 986 the ignition has to be on, then press M and the button with the key symbol simultaneously. And after you've locked the car with the remote on the key, I think you have to wait about 15 seconds before unlocking for the memory settings to get picked up. If you don't leave it for a while it will just reset to whatever was set previously (or at least, that's whay my current Cayman does, although I don't actually remember this from the 986).
