Problems with bonnet release

[FONT=calibri"]I’m having problems with the bonnet release on my 997.1. The manual release button on the floor doesn’t always open the bonnet, especially when the engine isn’t running. Usually when the engine is running the release mechanism then works. Of late I can’t open the bonnet with either the engine running or not. This will cause a problem if the battery runs low, and I can’t get in there to attach a charger. I don’t use the car regularly and use a C-Tek trickle charger when garaged. I am persevering at present as I have fitted a new battery. Suggestions please what the fault may be.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

David,

If the problem's somewhat intermittent/low-voltage related, maybe it's a contact issue with the switch? You could try applying some electrical contact cleaner, or if that doesn't work, replacing the switch (see online guides).

In addition to the above you can use the cigarette lighter socket attachment for the Ctek to save having to go in to the battery. The door will close over the cable ok.
