Problems with Soft Top

Hi 1999 996 C2 Cab
Can anyone help with a problem i am having with my soft top, doing all the right things to open and close the soft top engine running, parking break on doors open, when I push the swtich all I get is the lights flashing and nothing happens- when i try and do it remotley with the key fob sometimes it works sometimes not- I think there must be a sensor fault or smoething like that.
Anyone help with ideas??
Does anyone know of someone in Gloucestershire who knows about these cars??
Also looking to go to the meetings where and when are they??
