I have been having some problems recently with my 968 CS, and would appreciate some advise please.

1. Car just cuts out when driving, ignition lights come on. Then I turn off reuse the immobiliser and it starts again for a while and sometimes cuts out once more or continues without any further problems. The fault is very intermittent.

2. Headlights. Left does not go down at all. Right goes down but not every time. Have tried WD40 and silicon sprays.

3. Light on centre vent never lasts more than a few weeks.

Thanks for any help.

Intermittent problems are always difficult to diagnose, but it could be that your DME needs replacing.

Headlights - Lubrication is the answer, or getting the headlamp unit out and sstrip the mechanism down. There is a small piece that sometimes snaps. The thing to bear in mind is that the headlamps retract through gravity and not by a motor.

Last one, havn't got a clue! What light?

Agree about the DME relay. Change it as a matter of course before looking at anything else. Cheapest source here http://www.968uk.com/porsche-968-parts.htm

Weren't you selling your CS a while back? Great spec if I remember rightly. I see from other threads you have acquired a GT3 too - nice garage!

Agree about the DME relay too - check that yours has a 993.XXX.... part number and not the 944.XXX.... number. If it is already the 993 part, then it is incredibly unlikely to have failed. If it is the 944 part then it is incredibly likely to have failed. Second thought is that it could be the immobiliser playing up.

I can't think what light you mean either!?

Cheers,
Dave
