Project S2 update & where can I get...

Hi all,

it's been a while since my last update, so here's what I've been doing recently-

Got my Dansk SS exhaust & Promax/Janspeed decat fitted & wow! it feels much more responsive, quiet when you want it to be, but has a nice throaty roar when pushed hard. Chip & filter next I think!

Lots of T-Cutting / polishing to bring up the areas of bodywork that aren't going to be painted by the bodyshop. (BTW, I'm thinking of getting the bridge spoiler colour-coded when it goes in, opinions?...)

Change of plan on the intended wheel refurb. I did one, but it turned out to be such a pain, the wheels are coated with some kind of clear plastic, not like laquer, so I ended up having to take the whole wheel back to bare metal! So I'm either going to get them professionally blasted & refurbed or I'm on the lookout for a set of 17" Cups... anyone?

Finally, this bank holiday weekend, I removed the original Blaupunkt rad/cass & graphic equaliser & fitted a newfangled CD/mp3/ipod stereo thingy! I just need a cubby hole compartment thingy to go where the equaliser was. Anyone know where I can get one?

Cheers,
Robbo

That sounds great - I'll be heading down the decat route once I've done a few more jobs and have been looking at the exhausts from ESS.

My opinion re the colour coded spoiler on the 944 is not to. I like them on the 968 but to me they don't suit the 944 in the same way. There's a silver one in the Pistonheads Classifieds with a colour coded spoiler if you want to get an idea of what they look like.

I'm sure you'll be able to get one of the cubbys from a breakers or somebody breaking a car (random hero on here for example, maybe he still has the cubby).

Worth trying a Porsche Centre as well. New is often as cheap as used, and benefits from being new!

Hi Robbo

I put my I Pod in the centre arm rest. If you loosen the arm rest and section around the gear stick you can feed the cable up and into the centre . You would have to cut a small hole to feed cable in, but all looks very neat and keeps it hidden from prying eyes.

And it means you do not lose your centre cubby hole. Let me know and I will take a picture if you want to see what I have done.

Re painted rear bridge spoilers. Had mine done and it looks great [:D]

I'm sure I saw one on ebay very recently, but I'm blowed if I can find in now [8|]

Found a cubby - £10. [:D]. £22 from local OPC.

Jim, I'll be in touch if I decide to sell the old stereo. It is a Symphony, with separate graphic equaliser & is in perfect working order as far as I know, although I never tried any cassettes in it.

Cheers,
Robbo

why not get one of those CD holders instead . They look great and stop you putting a load of toot in the cubby hole thingy [;)]

Robbo,I removed the OE Symphony from my 968 today to fit a Sony BT2500.I hoped it would be a straight swap but the OE unit has a multi pin round plug on the back that goes to a preamp according to the diagram on the the back of the unit. How do I wire the speakers into the Sony as i presume the speakers sre wired to the preamp wherever that is,Ive looked under the seats but cant see it.Any help appriciated.PS the OE didnt have an equaliser with it.

Sorry bilbo, probably not going to be much help. The wiring on mine was pretty straight forward - I just ignored the wiring for the eq, this wasn't needed for the new stereo, I had to cut off the OE connectors & replace with a standard ISO plug. All the speaker wires were clearly marked & colour coded, so the only tricky part was sorting out the power feed wires. Luckily the OE Blaupunkt had a wiring diag sticker on it which was a big help.

Cheers,
Robbo
