My Promax chip arrived today. I'm going to try and get it in over the weekend. If not then before my MOT next friday.
 
I went shopping today. Bought some milk, eggs, ham, loaf of bread and some flowers for the missis. I do hope she likes them.

More serious answer; thanks for taking my sarcasm in the manner in which it was intended Colin. For what it's worth, I rate the Promax chip highly for the S2. There is quite a long thread about it here from when I first fitted it.

I went for it on the strength of the positive reports on here about it.If only more people on here had a sense of humour like yours Oli, this forum would be a much happier place.

Mot passed with flying colours on friday morning. The tester commented on how good the underside of the car is. He couldn't believe the car has been to france twice since it was done.Always nice to have someone compliment your work.

Chip fitted this afternoon. Easy to do , just followed the instructions no problems. First impressions are that the car seems to run smoother. It feels much more responsive through the revs and possibly a bit quicker as well. But over all just nicer to drive. It's going to get a few miles tomorrow, so I'll report more then.

 
Found the same when I changed the chip in my 968 cab - and found it already had a Superchip and daughter board fitted! The Promax smoothed out the power delivery so the kick of the variocam is less noticable but low end comes in better. The other nice thing is that it does not mess with the bottom end so does not mess up emissions for the MoT.

 
Ok more finding today. Did maybe 100 miles today on motorway A roads and in town. The car is much much smoother than before, the power delivery is much improved and the car is much more responsive than it was before. I didn't really think about it till I jumped into my TDi ( 150 bhp ) mk 7 Golf to pop into town. It felt life less and lethargic compared to the 44. Thats the first time I've ever felt that in the Golf. So big praise for the chip.

But also a down side........

When you try to start the car from hot it won't catch and fire up. It feels like it's not getting fuel. You need to pump the throttle to get it to catch, then when it catches it's as smooth as you like. Could thus be the FPR acting up as it's being asked for more than it wants or could it be something else.

 
Hot starting can be caused by the non return valve in the fuel pump letting the pressure drop off too quickly then the fuel boils in the injectors causing hot start issues

fuel under pressure does not boil so easy, should take about 15-20 mins for the pressure to drop right off
