Proposed Go-Karting Challenge???

Have been considering gauging opinion on the above for some time, with a view to possibly organising, in conjunction with Brian and Phil of course, some kind of three or four meeting " Championship" for 2004. Rounds could be staged on the East Coast, West Coast, North and somewhere in-between, so that people could come along and ' compete' in one round, even if they didn' t want to be too serious about the whole series. Would hope that it wouldn' t become too serious anyway, but I know how these things often pan out!! Even a family type event would be good, with wives, husbands, kids etc all having a go.
At this stage, I just want to see if the idea is even worth suggesting to the RO' s.
What do you think guys?
Let me know.

By way of a small update, Neill and I had a go on the 930 metre outdoor track at Raceland, near Haddington, yesterday. It was absolutely stifling hot - definitely not the day to be wearing a fleece lined race suit, gloves and a helmet! Must have lost half a stone! [:' (]
The damage was £25 for two x ten minute sessions, with a print out of your lap times at the end of each session. In the first session, I physically had to get out of the Kart, at one point, to point it back in the right direction, but by the second session, every single lap that I did was quicker than my best lap of the first session.
Great fun and something that we' ll certainly be doing on a regular basis.
If the weather is at all inclement, there' s a shorter indoor track too.
Anyone interested in coming along for a bit of practice????? Tuesday evenings seem to be the time to go.

count me in Derek, and once I have learn' t how to let off the handbrake I might give you a run for your money[8D]

Me too. Done a couple of events out at the Tranent (south of Edinburgh) track, both indoor and outdoor.

Apologies for the delay in replying, Gents - Just returned from my honeymoon!! [;)]
Would any of you be interested in an informal get-together, down at Raceland Karting (Tranent/Gladsmuir direction, just off the A1) perhaps one night next week? (Week commencing 25th August)
Let me know.

Why don' t we have a chat about this, at the next Edinburgh Club Meeting, on 4th September. We can agree a date for the week after that, or whenever the majority can attend.
