Prospective Cayman S owner

The wheels on the car at Alexanders Prestige are 18" Cayman S wheels. The ones you want to change them for are 997 Turbo wheels

Finished in gleaming black - presumably they don't mean metallic? You'll have fun keeping that clean! They're the new forged Turbo wheels. Original Porsche ones are going to be pretty expensive. Jasmine ask you to ring for a price for their replicas; Design911's replicas are listed at £899 a set.

I know black is high maintenance. Is gleaming black a straight, non-metallic finish? Harder to maintain the gloss in it's case? What are the replicas like from Design911 in terms of strength, quality and finish? PS - would the 18" Turbo replicas look lost in the arches or would they fill them well enough without having to go 19"?

Hello chaps. I've recently sold my Evo 9 and with a budget of 30k I've been looking at Lotus Exige S2s.

I've had a change of heart however and am considering a more luxurious Cayman S.

I've found a really clean one on Pistonheads - what do you think?:

I would immediately replacing the wheels with the ones pictures below (can someone tell me the wheel model?):

Design 911 UK stock these wheels but I think they're replicas. How much are the genuine Porsche wheels?

Has anyone dealt with Alexander's prestige and are they reputable?

Any advice and recommendation welcome! Cheers.

Hi Conor, Nice looking car, and I think the turbo wheels would really suit it.

Can't comment on wheels - but you might want to have a read of this thread on wheel nuts from same source - see picture half way down the second page of the thread - D911 seem to be doing a good job of trying to sort things, but I hope their wheels don't come from same manufacturer as their wheel nuts: [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=439228]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=439228[/link]

looks nice[:D] friend in cayman register -steve jones-(who`s written a concours article in PP a few months back)-has a lovely red s (07) with the turbo wheels-looks superb good choice-and saving of £20k from new!!

Tell me about it mate! I'm gonna give Alexander's a call in the morning and have a chat about the car and hopefully haggle the price down a bit if the car fits the bill. Is there anything you'd recommend I ask about the car (barring the obvious)?

Ho Conor, Looks a nice car, no mention of a warranty, worth checking out whats available with them, as a replacement warranty from Porsche isnt easy or instant to buy any longer. Good luck

agree with alan-check out extended warranty-i would offer £25k if it has, maybe 24k if if not[:D]

Hi guys - just a quick update. The one at Alexanders is sold but as if by fate - I've found one just 30 mins down the road from me! It's a 2007 S in Atlas grey with stone grey leather interior. Best part of all is there is just 5500 miles on the clock! It's manual with park assist, cruise control, heated seats, auto climate control, bi-xenon lights and is 100% mint. We've came to an agreement at £27,500, which I think is a very good price considering the age, condition and mileage. I'll hopefully be back soon with pics [:D]

Just picked the car up today chaps. Over the moon with it! The atlas grey with the grey leather interior is a great combo. Where my Evo was a bludgeoning hammer, this is more like a scalpel! I love the feel of the car and find the chassis very well balanced. The sound of the engine is sublime! Here are a few quick photos (bucketing down with rain):

And my favourite little extra - the embossed logos on the seats:

The only one fault I have found is that the bells of the brake discs are corroded. I'm going to machine these down and coat them with a galvanising spray. PS - 19" Porsche turbo wheels and Michelins ordered!

Looks good, although the grey interior is too light to my taste. Number plate looks a bit dodgy!

Where are you ordering the wheels from? You shouldn't have any problem selling your existing wheels. Did you get any kind of warranty on it?

The number plate is not mine mate - it's midway through a cherished transfer. I hate personalisd numbers! I'll be making a nice set of standard plates with standard digits when my registration comes through. No warranty as it was bought privately. Should be ok. I'm taking it for it's first service next week.

Hi Conor, Lovely looking car. Just a word of caution about 19" wheels without PASM. They can feel very hard. If you haven't already, you might want to try a non-PASM car on 19s before you order them. And even if you do like it, take careful note of the tyres and then buy the same, they can make a big difference to the ride. Bridgestones, for example, are very hard wearing, but very hard riding too. Michelins are much softer. Best wishes, Richard.

good point richard-i have 19" with non pasm and used to have contis-really bad ride, then changed to michelin sport and had a geo settup with jonas at jz and it is like chalk and cheese-puurfect[:D] so yes make sure you get the right combo,as richard says and enjoy!!so much better than my old M3-very tail happy and nowhere near as sweet handling(imo)

Cheers guys. Thanks for the heads up. RE - Richard - I have Michelin Pilot Sport 2s coming (235/35/19 (F) & 265/35/19 (R)). Should be spot on [:D]

Hey that's my car [:)] I mean the piccy you used to show the wheels [:)] is my actual car. Now two weeks into ownership and I love the car more every day! Achingly pretty to look at IMHO. Turbo wheel are about £3K from Porsche methinks. Paul
