Protective Grilles for 991.2 GTS

When I was configuring my new 991.2 GTS, I wasn't convinced that the very open aspect of the sport design front apron was a good idea as the radiator grilles seemed to be highly vulnerable to impact damage so I approached Zunsport and my car became the "donor" car for Zunsport to design and manufacture the grilles.

Here is a photo of the full set fitted, they are very easy to fit and remove but as one member found out fitting the inner pair after the outer grilles are in place is difficult so it's best to fit those first then the outer grilles (unfortunately the instructions don't make that sequence of the fitting process clear). The centre grille simply screws on with two self tappers into the blank panel which I think now looks so much better than a plain piece of black plastic trim.

Before anyone asks, yes you will get small debris between the centre grille and the blank panel but it just washes out with a hose and for the outer grilles as they are relatively easy to detach, they can be taken off and any fine debris removed.

Apparently Zunsport have sold over 60 sets with many going to the USA.

It is worth mentioning Adrian, you get 15% off if you tell them you are in the Porsche club quoting your membership no. £217 down to £184.

Excellent, well done chaps!
I was wondering about the grilles and my car was a donor on the 991.1 sport design kit, so I've asked them if I can get a good price, but 15% discount is pretty good.

About a week to go now before I get my hands on the car :)

looking forward to see pictures of your new car, you will not regret it. I have done over 4K in 4 months.

I take delivery of my new GTS a week today - so like you very excited!
Car Connect is working so I can see all the stuff on there - feels weird to be that personal with the car when I haven't seen it in the flesh yet.
I also like the look and idea of the grilles and have also contacted them by web form about the members discount - will ring them early next week if I haven't heard from them.
Enjoy your car when you get it!!

Regarding Car Connect, Where does the app activation code come from?

Ive registered and sent the installation code to the dealer, but I dont think they actually have the car yet.

When the dealer puts the activation code into the car you get a text with the code to log in on the app.

Do these Grills effect warranty? I'm sure i read somewhere that they did, as they effect air flow..

And how do they fit? scews? or clipped? not keen on making holes...

mine was the donor car, they have been on a month and 700 miles.
1. Airflow - No noticeable change in oil or coolant temperature so as far as I can see zero effect and it makes sense as after all it's just a mesh..
2. Warranty - They clip so easily removed if you want to take them off when going for a warranty visit to OPC
3. They clip onto the trim inside the front bumper apertures, only the centre grille requires a couple of small self tapping screws but you don't need to fit this if you prefer not to.

Regarding warranty I had them fitted on a GTS Boxster and I checked with my OPC before fitting and they were fine with it but I guess it depends on the OPC. In reality they should be okay as it protects the Rads and saves on warranty claims.
It may be worth asking your OPC, at least then you will know if you need to take them off when the car goes in for servicing / warranty.

My OPC, who are very good with these kind of things, said that they can't retail a car with them fitted, so they have to be removed.
However, they say it is almost impossible to remove them without causing damage, as the locating claws scratch the plastic shrouds. Replacing these parts can cost £500!

I think it may depend on the OPC, I part exchanged my last car at Guildford OPC with the grilles on it (should have removed them as I could have sold them £££), they didn't bat an eyelid. I got a pretty good price for the car and if they sold it for close to what they were asking on the forecourt then they did OK too, I'm pretty sure they budget for this type of stuff, these parts might cost us £500 but I'm sure they cost them a fraction of that.

Hmm as I thought...

Having had warranty revoked, and refusal to sell as AUC previously on a BMW I'm conservative on these things these dats..
