Test drove a 987 "S" today fitted with PSE and must confess to being suitably impressed with the new enhanced sound track
and will be putting that on my wish list next time I buy ... Anyone else got a view good bad or ugly [;)]

I'm working with Porsche East London for a discounted PSE upgrade but it will most likely be in early Spring 2008 (following a free 111point check for all PCGB members), so watch the London region forum space if you want to take up the offer...

Kish that sounds like awfully hard work waiting for OPC East London to take it's trousers down :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I'm glad you didn't advise "holding ones breath" [:D]

They have just got in a new service manager (some 3 months ago) and he is very keen to work with us and being part of Lancaster group our relations with PC Cambridge (also Lancaster group) helped.

Incidentally, we have a free 111 point check with Porsche West London on Saturday, 13th of October if any PCGB member want to take it up. Details -> here <- Booking essential.

Hope you guys realise that if your PSE is more than 105db you are naffed for trackdays.

Kish typical left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing as I have just been told by the very same OPC that the system is only available for 987 MY 07 onwards. MY 05 (thats me) and MY06 can't have the system fitted.

Price to anyone reading this with a MY07 onwards Boxster would be £1108.00 for the exhaust system and the parts guy says a new switch panel for the dash would be another £40 approximately. Then there is the fitting charges to be added [&o]

Robert, they could be right about MY05/06 as I asked for all Porsches but mainly 986, 996 and the price I'm trying to get for club members is around £1500 including the switch which is what some of the deals with indis are going at and Porsche Nottingham did it at that price some time back.

Kish ... JZ quoted me the following prices which seem more than fair for anyone with a MY07 987

Porsche only supply a sports exhaust system for a 987 Boxster 2007 onwards, nothing for previous models year 987 Boxsters

The price for that system is £943.49,
The price for the nuts/bolts/gaskets etc is £26.07
The price for the fitting/labour is £140.00

Total £1109.56 + vat

Can you please check if this includes the switch as the bulk of the fitting/labour was for the switch.

Will ask but to be honest if it was my car I wouldn't want a switch as I would want the exhaust working 24/7 [:D] It certainly isn't loud enough to be considered annoying.com IMO so can't see the point of turning it off completely

I beleive the issue with pre 2007 cars is they have a different induction manifold as they are 3.2 and not 3.4 L engines. Fitting the exhaust should still be possible as the systems are the same , its just going to require a custom mod to get the actuation to turn it on and off. Otherwise the exhaust will be in loud mode all the time.

There are different part numbers for the original fitment exhaust, it is the same upto 2006, but there is a different part number for a 2007 car, therefore suggesting that there is more of a difference in systems than just the sport switch and that retro fitting will not be an option. [&o]

Berty is quite correct. You can retro the pipes but you cannot install the plumbing related to the electric change-over valve since this is all controlled by the DME and pre MY07 cars do not have the programming.

If you do a search on here for the usual suspects you will find a lot more info. BTW, didn't you look into all this some time in November last year?

Haven't checked the PET catalogue , but if the DME is the same part no , then its possible a reprogramme at the dealer may give the feature you are looking for. If custom pipework could also be fabricated then I guess its possible. Porsche often tell you things cannot be done becuase they do not want to undertake the task themselves and compromise warranty or standard cars. Really you need to look at a 987 with the sport exhaust in some detail and compare it to an early 987 3.2.
