I am due to collect my second hand 2 year old 997 2S coupe at the end of this month. Can hardly wait!

I am just wondering how much a PSE would cost to purchase and fit.

I believe the spread is around £ 1,300 to £ 1,600.

i paid £1350 for mine from OPC Colchester which imcuded them collecting the car dropping it back. OPC Sutton Coldfield was £1300 and also wud have collected and dropped the car back but thats too far. OPC Colchester in my experience are very good. There is alot of debate about pulling the brown plug in the engine bay so the exhaust is twice as load but to me it then doesnt sound like a 911 so in a way it defeats the whole point. Anyway, im glad i got it done so go for it and give them a call

Congratulations....

It will actually cost more to fit if you don't have sports chrono...as the labour charge will be alot higher.

I paid £1,800 inc vat, as I don't have sports chrono at OPC Cambridge.

It's a must have though!

I recently had a PSE fitted to my '07 997 "S" (which does not have sport chrono) for £1,300 including labour - the work was done by a mechanic who has recently left OPC Cardiff and who has opened his own place. I can highly recommend him but it might be a bit far for you to travel. The OPC wanted £1,800.

You can often pick up a second hand PSE on e bay for a lot less than new. Since porsche silencers are made of stainless steel you are unlikely to find a rotten one. Regarding the activation of the system , this can be done via the official route with a new loom and switch button or a simple 2 wire connection to your own switch. If your car has sport chrono and the sport button , you will not require any new wiring. If you car doesn't have the sport button you need the wiring to be installed or install your own. The benefit of putting your own wiring and control in place is that you do not need to defeat the 20 -40 mph quiet mode built into the ECU. Take a look over on the boxster section of the forum for the post i added on fitting the overide and PSE to my 987. The control wiring is identical for a 997 as the 987. If the PSE is fitted but not wired up it remains in loud mode all the time, this is another option.
