PSE Group Buy?

Ian W

New member
Has anyone ever tried to get a group purchase discount on these? As a 'must have' accessory that is horribly expensive I would have thought they would be an excellent candidate! I don't know anywhere myself that would do such a discount but the idea came to mind from talking to Jasmine Motorsport. The chappie there said he used to be able to sell them at around £700 when he 'bought in bulk' but can't at the moment (he didn't say why). Best he could offer was £920 + VAT

I for one would be very happy to buy at £700 or thereabouts if anyone could secure a group purchase discount like that.

Any ideas?

I think there was a proposal last year, but it never got off the ground.

Presumably OPCs have to buy the PSEs from Porsche Cars so they hold the purse strings. Ideally, the Club (996 Register?) should take the initiative with Porsche Cars as part of this 'closer co-operation arrangement'.

PSE is highly desirable, and it would be nice if it could be offered at c.£950 fitted and warranteed.

I'd be interested in this to, but surely jasmine would have to sell you one at the advertised price of £750 + vat or am i missing something?

Oliver,

Good point - well made (as the saying goes)!

It would be an interesting way to see if the new 'accord' can offer benefits to members (note to self - time to join, Ian) as well as to Porsche.

SCOTJC,

Regrettably they don't advertise that price. A member here (TISKPJ ?) recommended talking to Jasmine in a previous post some time ago - he remembered them once selling the PSE at a very competitive prices. When I asked if they could still do anything special, they said that regrettably they were no longer able to do so.

Not being picky Ian but they definately advertise the price. Ad in front of me reads;
996 sports exhaust system £750
And this is from the recent issue of GT and am sure its the same add in porsche world and the post if i remember right.

Haven't seen their ads in the magazines - thanks for pointing this out - I'd only looked at their web site and couldn't find an advertised price there. Would be interesting to find out if they're bound by the £750 advertised price as you suggest.

Ian W

AFAIK, they would be bound by a printed price (other than to say they're out of stock, maybe) but they're not bound by a price on the interweb.

I am up for this too!

I am sure I have an email from 911 uk offering the PSE installed with switch for £1500.

Now the big question remains, do we need the switch? Having not heard one, how loud over standard is it and how intrusive on motorways etc?

Cheers

Nick

Personally, I don't think the switch is worth the extra cost. The PSE is a very clever system and the sound is really only intrusive when you want it to be.

It can be a bit loud on first start up from cold, and it may be useful during noise testing at some circuits, but for most people it probably isn't necessary.
