PSM failure. Fuse issue?

Hi All

Hoping someone can help as I cannot find an obvious answer anywhere

Essentially my battery went flat prior to me going on holiday and I had a quick go at resolving. On return I have now got a new battery and installed but on starting the PSM failure light comes on. I then realise I have taken out a fuse attached to a red wire with a double fuse converting into one (see picture. Is this a mod?) and due to old age I can't remember where it plugs into [:)]. I am hoping some clever person can tell me where this goes and more importantly hoping this will fix my PSM issue. It is an 07 plate 2.7 for reference and do I need to do anything else due to battery being dead for over a week now as it seemed to start just fine.

Any help greatly appreciated

file is too large to upload will try and get another photo now. Finally got photo on. Any direction to where this fuse plugs in greatly appreciated and what it does would be good as well.

The PSM simply needs resetting, the good news you can do this yourself!!

To do this:

1. Disengage the steering lock with the key
2. With the steering centralised switch on the ignition and start the car.
3. With the car stationary, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the left, then back to central then 90 degrees to the right and then back to central.
4. Now drive the car slowly around the block and within a few hundred yards the PSM light will switch off.

Other things that will need doing is resetting the windows:

1. Press and hold the switch down whilst the windows drop.
2. Press and hold the switch up whilst the windows raise.
3. Repeat step 1.
4. Test the one touch ie Press and release the button and the windows should close.
5. Repeat for other window.

Last thing to do is reset the throttle position sensor.

1. Switch on the ignition for 1 minute without starting the car.
2. Start the car

If you have PCM the clock will reset otherwise manually reset.

Brilliant, thanks for this Nick, nice and clear, will have a go now.

Any idea where I need to plug the fuse in. I can't seem to get a photo on for reference even though it is a very small file (218kb).

Just seen limit is 200 will try again [:)]

Main fuse or the fuse in the red wire?

What else is installed? Bluetooth phone, iphone charger or interface or after market Nav perhaps?

unfortunately I got it second hand so only know that a parrot has been put on after market. Photo is finally on now I have read rules!

I see your problem ... you unplugged it and can't remember the slot it was from [;)]

Do you know the row?

I am away from home at the moment (and away from my Boxster).

Looking at the wire there are two fuses (obviously) one I would say is for the original circuit the other for the accessory. Both are 10amp.

There should be a fuse list in the fuse panel lid.

Other clues would be something doesn't work, some lights, radio perhaps.

If you draw a blank I will look at the fuse list and try to work out whats missing from the picture, but it does vary by year and what 'options' are fitted to the car.

ha ha yes [:)]

ok I have been through the fuse box and due to wire length and the fact row a is full, it can only be

B4 - Headlight washer (25)
B5 - Targa control unit (7.5)
B7 - [nothing] ()
B8 - tiptronic control unit (7.5)

C1 - AWD (997 turbo) (7.5)
C5 - Tiptroniccontrol unit TRM15 (15)
C9 - PASM control unit TRM 30 (10)

On this basis I think it is C9 but looking at the porsche codes for PASM (475) I dont have this on my log book, now very confused! If I ignore the fuse size I can also rule out Headlight washers / targa / tiptronic and the 997 turbo unfortunately (so everything else then!)
