Pulling to left on braking

Hi, sounds like one of your brakes is not working as they should, probably the right disc/calipers have a problem, could be siezed. This is quite common as different metals are involved. This occurs when the car is not used regularly, week-ends and runs only maybe

Hi,
What would cause the car to pull to the left on braking.
thanks

Amolak - Totally agree with Adam's diagnosis as a possibility, you may well have a 'lazy' caliper, but don't neglect to check the simple things first. Tyre pressures, tyre wear, tracking maybe!

Hi,
Will get it checked out soon.
Can the calipers be fixed?, or do they need to be replaced?
If so what is the cost?
thanks

Amolak - Yes, there's a very reasonable chance that they can be 'fixed' by stripping, cleaning and fitting replacement seals and without the need to replace the complete calliper unit, but you will need to take advise on that, since it will depend on it's overall condition.

Discuss the problem with who ever is going to sort it out for you!

You will almost certainly be advised to have the brake pads replaced and possibly the discs. You may also be advised to have the brake fluid repaced. I don't know what documentation you have but you might care to check and see if / when the brake fluid was last replaced.

Cost. Difficult to say. It will obviously depend on how much work has to be done, hourly rates, cost of parts, etc. Discuss it with who ever is going to do the work and get an itemised estimate.

Hi,
I have just noted that on the rear wheels the spacers are different sizes. The right is 75mm and the left is 50mm.
Could this cause the problem?

Cheers

Yikes [:-]

From an earlier thread, am I correct that you are running 18" wheels on a 3.2 Carrera [&o]?

You may well find that, under braking, the wheels are following the camber of the road - ie pulling to the left.

Uneven spacers - it won't help but it shouldn't make that much difference. I have run race cars like this (though not to the same degree) to get the widest track possible within the confirms of slightly uneven bodywork and the driver was totally unaware of the changes we made.

Just checked the tyre pressures, and they seem to partly to blame.
The problem is not so bad now.
I think it does tram line.

Cheers
