Pulling to the left

Hello all,

I need the hive mind once again. My car is pulling to the left when I let go of the steering it gently drifts to the edge of the road. It is not made worse by braking or accelerating and when wanting to go straight it feels like I am having to actively steer to the right. The car is on 3 month old rubber (Pirelli P zero all round) and the tracking was done at the same time, but still the problem persists.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance.

Dan,

Just a thought but maybe you've got a dragging brake on LHS of the car? It could be that the handbrake's not releasing properly on that side.

If you can, jack-up the car and check the the wheels turn freely.

Who did the tracking?
I'd take it back to them or go somewhere else, sounds like a tracking issue.

Be mindful thay due to the natural camber of roads for drainage reasons cars left of centre of the road will tend to go left anyway as it's 'downhill'. Try and find a flat road or the middle lane and try it there

I thought about the camber being an issue. It feels slightly more than that to my mind.

Although after a while it starts to become a bigger issue in my mind!

As been said get the Tracking checked again and find a road you can drive down the middle all cars very very slightly go to the left with the road camber.
If tracking is spot on again you probably need to start investigating to the cause.
I assume all the pressures are right.
Good luck

One of the few justifiable reasons for driving down the middle lane of a motorway - 'just using the flat bit of the road to check my tracking officer'

Cliff is right, even 1psi difference between tyres on 1 axel can make a big difference.

Even if the tracking is within tolerance that's still a huge margin. Someone like Chris at Center Gravity would do it with zero margin of error and you're guaranteed no issues.

But unless the car has had big off or some suspension parts are bent it should track straight(ish) subject to road cambers.

Tire pressure is a good shout. Not checked them for a couple of months.

I will get the tracking looked at again and then see where I end up.

cheers,

And surely this needs to be checked at all possible speeds! [8|]

Thanks for the info, I’ll consider more ‘professional help’ as I eliminate the easier fixes.

Thanks!
