Not sure of there real name! Sorry, My gorgeous 944 85/B plate, just decided to have a sleep as I was approaching the traffic lights a few nights ago, I tried re starting him, lots of power in battery etc, but just would'nt fire, turning fine though, had my friend have a look, we think it may be these sensors, Porsche want £100 each! bit expensive, as It may not be the problem, any ideas!?!?
Coil is fine checked that, and dizzy cap, etc leads all good, is it these sensors, its common that they go apparently......
Any help would be really appreciated and a cheaper second hand supplier of the part would be a god send.
Many Thanks in advance
Justin

I'd try the DME relay, common to be the culprit when you can turn the engine over but it won't start. About £18 from and OPC or decent parts supplier. It is located inside the fusebox , which is just infront of the passenger bulkhead on late cars. I think the battery is there on early 944s, and could be inside the car? Anyway if you find you fuse box, the relay will have DME written on top. They are sometimes repairable, but not always reliable, so carrying a spare is a good idea anyway.

Best thing is to try and borrow one from someone and test it, if it doesn't work, you can look into other things and you won't be out of pocket.

Those other sensors would be a later port of call if that doesn't work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, that's fantastic, just got one off e bay, brand new £20, got those sensors today too, off a guy breking his 944 off e bay, so i just got them for £15 + £2 p&p, a bargain don't you think, and as you say, good to have spares of these things, will let you know if it solves it, great.
Thanks Again

Have you got spark and / or fuel? If you've got no spark AND no fuel to injectors check plug for camshaft sensor (rear of head) hasn't just fallen out. Mine did. Or could be alarm / immobiliser problem?

Cheers Chris, I have fuel, but no spark, we think its one of the pickup sensors, so I got both and the DME relay, for about £40 bargain, whatever one isnt broken, i'll have a spare... hoora
Thanks
Justin

When you say you're getting fuel but no spark, do you mean you have fuel rail pressure or that the injectors are firing (use a noid light to test) ? If the injectors are pulsing but no spark, I'd look at any immobiliser fitted ... they usually interrupt the coil feed - check you have +12 on one (+) terminal and pulsing on the other (-).

Fitted the sensors and a nice new battery last night, fired up straight away, but unforfunatly, yes its the rings, that have gone, so its engine out, and a large order to be put in to Euro Parts... oh well, I know it will be worth it though...........
Will update when works are complete.....
Thankyou to everyone...
