Pump repairs

Has anybody ever had a go at refurbing their power steering pumps?Not just the seals but bearings also.If so how hard is it to do the bearings?
I have a feeling mine's on it's last legs as it seems to be getting noisier although the fluid is not that old.
Also how hot should the fluid be after a run?Mine seems to get very very hot.
