Puncture hassle

Had a severe puncture yesterday in my 987 35 mi from home and the sealant stuff was as useful as a chocolate teapot. Had to call out Porsche Assistance who were very good, RAC came in an hour and they sourced a tyre at a nearby Kwikfit who collected a Pilot Sport from another branch especialy for me. £289 lighter, I drove home. Undeer no circumstances was I going to have them take me to my OPC whoc would have charged goodness knows what for a tyre plus fitting. My point is with no spare wheel and no spacesaver I could have been really stuck if in a remote location. There is plenty of room in the front boot for a spacesaver or at least i would do without the boot space, so I cannot understand why Porsche did without on the 987. Any similar experiences?

i had to buy a new rear when a punctured tyre had to be sent away for a vulcanised repair - £228 [:(] I kept one of my old rear tyres as a spare in case of a similar incident in the future, thats assuming i get the puncture soemwhere near home.

Use of the tyre sealant immediately confines your tyre to the scrap bin, rather than being repairable - i'd rather call rac out straight away to save the tyre than use the foam.

The 986 feels well-balanced and that's got a spacesaver! You're probably right.....

A 19" rear wheel & tyre will not fit in the boot...

yeah, but if your mrs is limber enough she could while the tyre nestles safely on her seat....

Unless your wife is thinner than Kate Moss then this isn;t even an option...
