Purchase of 997.2 C4S

Hi all,

I am just about to purchase a 60 plate Gen2 C4S with PDK, sports exhaust, adaptive suspension plus other spec. It is with Porsche Newcastle and they are doing the 111 point check and putting two year warranty on. My question is what wear parts should have been changed on the car that is near 8 years old and done 49k? Should the plugs and fluid be done for the sale, pads and discs done recently? Waiting for the workshop report. New to 997, coming from a 996 c4s which was great but I think this will be epic? Anyone with similar a car?
Many thanks Rhys

Morning!
An 8 year old 997 will be due it's second Major Service which would (most likely) also see a new drive belt and spark plugs going in assuming the Service Record is on-point with the recommendations. If Porsche say the plugs and belt don't need doing, try negotiating a discount into a future Minor service, as they'll definitely need doing by then.
The OPC will report any items they'll be putting on prior to sale, but it's unlikely that big ticket items like a Major Service would have been done when the car was taken in as it's pointless to do the service then have the car sit on the forecourt for however long.
A 49k mile car is probably on it's second set of tyres and brakes by now, but as it's only averaged about 6k miles per year it's not likely to require any form of remedial work at this stage - suspension for example - so I'd like to think that it won't have any concerns for you.
There have been some past issues with PDK boxes however, due to overheating of the gearbox oil shunting the car into limp home mode. It's worth checking to see if this car has had revisions to add a deeper gearbox sump and updated sensors to prevent this.

At 49K I'd look at the front top mounts a bit more carefully than normal.
Can rust up and cause both a rattle and creak.

It sounds like a cracking car and I know you will not be disappointed [:D] I would ask for proof (invoices) that the 6 year service had the following carried out:

PDK clutch oil change
AWD oil change

I would not rely on the workshop report to highlight everything that needs to be done, as an example a friend of mine expected the brake disc top hats to be painted or replaced, as he did not point it out before purchasing the OPC left them rusty. I on the other hand pointed out everything I could find and to their credit they fixed every single one of them. I would also ask if the PCM3 & PDK software has been upgraded to the latest, the first adds 7 digit postcode search and the second improves the PDK downshifts in sport mode 2nd to 1st).
