Pushing door hinge pin back in

Hi.
What's the best way to push the pin back into the lower door hinge?
I noticed a while ago it was about 1/4 inch out. The other day I looked and it's about 1 1/2 inches out. I tried a screwdriver and light hammer but the screwdriver kept slipping.
Rennlist seem to recommend a g-clamp. I'll clean the pin and put lithium grease on.
I had noticed a rattling from the door, I'd cleared stuff out of the pocket and assumed it was stuff rattling around but it seems the rattling as the door shuts is a weird symptom of a pin coming out.
