Hi,

Front or rear?
does anyone have any suggestions for brands of porsche or non-porsche child seats that will fit into the (1) front seats

and / or ( 2) also any that will fit in the rear?? ( rear is preference, to avoid the need to have a passenger air bag deactivator fitted.

Seat is for '4yr old onwards type' child!

Car is a cabrio - so rear seats would need to be designed to be fixed with lap belt only.

Thanks.

I have found the moulded plastic items available in either red soft cover trim or blue fit the rear seat base of the 993 rather well, i have one of each for my son and daughter 5.5 and 4.5 respectively, they are currently on offer from halfords at 7.99 each normal price 9.99 and represent excellent value. they will work with either a lap belt or a three point. Grab yourself a pair.

Halfords Child Booster Seat Blue/Grey

Halfords blue and grey booster seat is suitable from 4 to 12 years approx (15-36kg)

Interesting - thanks Colt.

The Halfords website says:
Features & Benefits of the Halfords Booster Seat
â– Safe and comfortable booster seat for your child
â– Suitable for ages 4-12 years (approx 15-36kg)
â– Must be used with your vehicle's 3 point seat belt system not lap belt

Which suggests using them in the rear isn't "allowed". The law (https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules) says that

Car seats in a seat with only a lap belt
If a seat only has a lap belt, you'll still need to fit your child's car seat.
Most seats can only be used with a belt that has a diagonal strap as well, so in this case you'll need to get a diagonal belt fitted.

It counts booster seats as a type of child car seat, by the look of the wording elsewhere.

It also mentions child-sized seats (like the 993 rears I presume) but insists they must have an approval marking to be used without car seats.

All in all it sounds like using the Halfords one or other boosters will work for a 15-36kg child but an expert copper or insurance company might realise it's not completely legit. Is that right?

I'm considering getting booster seats for my twins when they are big enough (they are 2 now and I think they will reach 15kg within a year or so) so we can travel together in the 993. That would be nice - the car has been rarely used since they arrived, hence my absence around here!

While looking around on this subject I've just found the Britax Eclipse Forward Facing Group 1 Car Seat:

With its slim base and flexible installation options, the Eclipse is a great choice for older or smaller cars, without compromising on the safety and comfort of your infant.
Britax Eclipse is ideal for:
Toddlers weighing between 9 and 18kg
Older cars fitted with two-point lap belts
Smaller cars and cars with sculptured seats
Taking on aeroplanes

If this had been available I might have got one to try for size in the back of the 993. Worth looking into if you have a baby which you want to carry in the rear seat to see if it fits.

Back on-topic, I've been looking for booster seats which are OK with just the lap belt and none specify that so far...
