Hi,

my battery has given up holding a charge[:mad:], so need to get a replacement ( tried juming and long drive - but battery definately very dead ).

so about to buy a new one :

[8|]was wondering:

( A ) any particular experience of a good brand ( Bosch, Banner?? )

( B) also - any suggestions on whether to go for basic level of waranty, 3 year ( GSF quoting £65 + vat ), or for £75 + vat get a 4 year.

car is 2nd/3rd car - not used as often as it should be.

Any pointers much appreciated,
thanks[&:]T

Bosch Silver - seems to be the most recommended one - not cheap though - Cosco do them pretty - or search usual places

Thanks to all - especially for ECP hint about their 15%

Bosch Silver type 100:
3yr = £61.15 all in.
4yr = £73.99
5yr = £84.61

Think I'll probably go for the 5yr one.

These were all listed as type 100 batteries,
So wondered why my 993 had a type 096 battery in it.
prices / Ah etc. are all pretty similar - just the 096 is 15mm taller.[:-]

I know an 096 fits into a 993 - with totally equal spec ( 72Ah etc. ). - any thoughts on why taller / or smaller unit might be better??[8|]

Recently replaced mine with a Bosch Silver. CostCo didn't appear to stock for the 964!
Priced at Eurocarparts, they wanted £99.54, however despite their website stating 5 years warranty, they said it only comes with 3 years!!!
Went to Halfords (£114.99) checked warranty confirmed 5 years and they price matched.
Pays to shop round.

Thanks for comments:

I ended up going for the Bosch 096 4 yr waranty,
£82, then take off a 15% deduction
add back on £3.95 for next day delovery ona saturday morning!

£74.28 all in.
( and their e mail order receipt confirmes the 4 year waranty )

take off another few quid ( as you can go through Topcashback to get to eurocarparts - and we had to but an air con condenser as well )

so Euro Car Parts via TopCashback seems to work well.

Thanks for all the help
