Query Number 2 : Chasing a Creak

Am having all sorts of problems tracking down the source of a loud creaking sound that intermittently raises its head whilst driving. It tends to happen after I have been travelling a while and generally starts when I have gone round a corner, after which every time I go over a bump, turn another corner or (even a change of camber sometimes) I get this noise.

Its from the rear part of the car from what I can tell. At first I thought it was the spare wheel or jack not being mounted solidly, but have taken them out and its not that. Then I thought it might be the hinges of the rear seat (sort of sounds like a creaky hinge or bracket) but it doesn't seem to be them. Things like exhaust mounting brackets have been checked and all seem as they should be. Thought it might be my old suspension but the KW's are on the car now. It was fine until I went round a roundabout when nearly home from Milton Keynes and then it started again so it wasn't the suspension. [&o][]

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions please ? It does seem to be coming from somewhere around the back seat area (either inside or outside) though sound does travel in the metal box of a car of course. It is intermittent but its bloomin annoying when it starts. Am sure if I drive her tomorrow it will have gone again, at least until I have covered some distance.

Thanks in advance as always.

Your car is obviously rubbish and I will gladly take it off your hands for tuppence now that it is on non-standard KW suspension [;)]

How old is the hatch seal? Try some of the rubber lubricants that are out there (not vaseline) or get a new seal, they are so much thicker and spongier than an old one and will calm down all sorts of creaks from the hatch area. Alos try tightening the latch pins and the latch itself

Just had a new hatch seal put on as the last one was very past its best. I did think maybe its something to do with the hatch pins/hinges. My next port of call perhaps.

if its more of a creak noise - it can be the actual glass moving in the frame where the sealant has dried up... but worth checking the pins definatley..

Sounds like the glass flex in the frame,I had the same noise and it drove me mad[]I used silocan clear sealant squirt between the glass and frame at the top and so far it is cured[:)]

Yes, the glass creaks in the frame but mine was ok until the pin popped out allowing a bit more movement.
