Question about Cup 2 wheels

Hi Guys,

Mate of mine has a very nice 968 sport, which has lost its cup 2 wheels.

It came originally with 7.5J front and 9J rears which seem 968 specific and they are pretty hard to find.

Are the 993 Cup 2's compatible, even though they are in 7 and 9?

Cheers,

Bert

Usually such wheels from a 993 will fit OK but always check the offsets ie the ET. How did he lose his wheels? Yup the price of replacements is high, if like some on here you have a set like me for a 968, we want proper money to part with them!! Have you tried Porsche a Part?

Previous seller sold the car with the boxster wheels. A week later he calls and offers the cups for £750. Ray, the current owner, felt a bit short changed and went into a strop.

No chance in hell to have *those particular* original cup 2 back onto the 968, I'm afraid![:D]

Obviously, I'm well aware of the cost of Cup 2's: luckely we are still some way from the fuchs prices.

Take care,

Bert

For some reason mine has replica cup 2s on, no idea what happened to the originals. The front offset on the replicas fills the arches slightly better. Unless you really must have originals I'd go with replicas, the only difference apart from the offset is the offset numbers are not stamped stamped either side of the valve. Porsche Apart will no doubt have a set of originals, but they will probably want more than the car is worth [;)]

From memory 993 rears are ET70 meaning you will need 15mm spacers and the front are 7J so slightly narrower and with an offset of ET50 or so meaning they will stick out a little more which is fine.

968 Cup 2 wheels

Standard 7.5x17 et 65 9x17 et 55

Tyres Front 225/45 Rear 255/40

Aftermarket Cup 2 alloys 7.5x17 et 52 9x17 et 47

Bear in mind the 993 wheels are narrower up front, which means they have 205 section tyres instead of 225. This will probably give more understeer!

928 wheels are a better match, for tyre sizes at least. No idea about the differences in offsets though, sorry!
