Question about fitting a crest badge

OK, this should be a simple one. Does anyone know if the crest badge on the nose cone simply pushes in (with the nose cone panel in situ), or does the nose cone panel have to come off to get access behind it?

I think that there are two different fitments of crest badge, mine has two pins on the back and two tiny black rubber sleeves which fit snuggly over the pins. I don't have the screw on pins.
 
hi the best way is to take off the nose pannel.that way you don't dent the pannel fitting the new badge..good luck carl and merry christmas..

Do you put the rubber caps over the pins on the back of the badge first and then push it into the panel, or do you push the pins through the panel and then put the rubber caps on?
 
Early cars and 924s have welded on badge panels; so Ive always presumed that to fit a new emblem, you push the grommets onto the emblems prongs and gently ease into place.
 
I believe the early fitment with the rubber sleeves was replaced with the screw on pins unit with the 968.

The previous owner of my turbo fitted the later style unit but the pins broke under hard acceleration and I replaced the badge with a sticker - lighter still, better aerodynamics, and it shouldn't tempt thieves as much as the original badge [:)]
 
I took the badge panel off and fitted the new crest with the strage fittings it came with.

Took a while to work out how to remove the panel, but clarks garage was a good help. Take your time, probably a job for warmer weather if you are working outdoors.

Always on form I see, of course it was!

As said, I'd take the badge panel off. On S2s you need to take it off anyway in order to remove the airfilter.

Where'd you get the stick on badge from? Is it an OE porsche part?
 
It was a present from a friend in return of various services, definitely not OEM.
If you are that bothered about fitting an OEM sticker then perhaps you should look at the first GT3 RS which had a sticker from new.

How early a 924 are you refering to? I have a '78 with a badge attached by two speed nuts. Warm the rubber up in very hot (not boiling)water to stretch it over the bagde
 
He meant that the panel between the lights that the badge itself attaches to is welded on in earlier cars.
