Apparently there is only a single sensor on an S2

just had this picture posted by John on Rennlist. Is this what the sensors look like on a 944S2 ? are there two or three sensors I can see ? I have a feeling from memory that one of my sensors have dropped out as I have a hole where there shouldn't be one.[:(]

There are two sensors there - the speed and reference sensor, though they are both the same part and yes, you should have both. If you need one I have a brand new one I bought when I thought one of mine had given up the ghost, however it just turned out it was loose and malfunctioning and everything worked fine once I tightened up the bolt again.

A classis sign of the reference sensor going or not functioning is that your car wont start - the engine will turn but it wont fire up. This is because upon startup if the ECU doesn't get a signal from the reference sensor it doesnt switch on your electric system so you don't get spark.

Not sure what the symptoms of a malfunctioning speed sensor is.

thanks Scott I might need to take you up on that offer. I'll check mine on the weekend. Which object in the image is the reference sensor ? is it the one bottom left ?
