Question re 'bar pressure'.......

Hi, first time on any forum so hope am doing this correctly. Bought a 2003 996 Turbo from a Porsche centre 10 weks ago. When I set dashboard display to BAR 0.0 is is only going to 0.6 when accelerating, even through to 6-7,000 RPM (just tested it on motorway). I recall that it used to go quite a bit above 1.0 previously. Am I mistaken or is there something wrong with one of the two turbos on the car. Any suggestion greatly received.Thanks
 
standard boost is about 0.7 if i remember right, might go slightly above or below, but 1.0 bar sounds high, was it "chipped"?
 
Scotjc is correct if stock it pushes 0.6/0.7 if warmer weather you might see 0.6 more often. Are you sure you were more than 1.0?

If you were then it was more than likely the car has been flashed/chipped and you have a slight boost leak somewhere.
 
1.0 bar of overboost is actually not that unusual on a standard car, achieved when redlining it &/or changing up at very high revs - the boost will nudge 1.0 bar very briefly, esp in cold/damp conditions when the air is moree dense.

A standard car usually boosts at between 0.6 - 0.7. A modified car boosts at 0.8-0.9.

Thanks for this feedback, Maybe I was imagining it & I have got a little more used to the power this car produces. It needs to go back to the garage to get a small oil leak checked anyway so I guess they can plug it into a computer & check all is working properly. At least you have put my mind at rest a littel now.
As far as I am aware the car has never been chipped. Thanks again!

I was under the impression that the OPC cannot detect certain ECU remaps. Well I hope not!....I am currently running the Revo remap and have had warranty work performed on the cooling system.

My only concern would be if a technician takes the car out and see 0.9 - 1.0 bar of boost....so I obviously change the display to MPG before dropping the car off.

Before the remap 0.6-0.7 bar was the norm.

Never would it reach 1.0 on stock, you would get spikes occasionally (maybe 0.8) but never 1.0
