is it possible to change the rubber strip in the cill protecter /sharks fin without taking the pieces off [:)]

No but the covers are easily removed with a bit of patience.

The sharks fin has two screws underneath and two 10 mm plastic nuts on the inside. One is easy to remove and the other takes time because it's hard to reach. Lots of short turns with a 10 mm spanner will eventually get it off.

Then for the sill remove the little plastic cover at the rear of the front wheel arch - 2 or 3 screws. Then you can access a plastic nut behind the sill. Remove the 5 or 6 plastic nuts that attach the sill to the floor of the car. Finally, starting at one end you can pull of the sill. There are 5 or 6 poppers. A steady firm pull is the key to getting them to pop out one by one without breaking the clips. Having spares ready in case you break some or are already broken is a good idea.

Yes remove them. This is an ideal time to get all the gunk that has gathered up behind the sills cleaned out. When I did mine last year the ammount of dirt and stones that had gathered there was surprising.

Ray,
I agree with Steve but be careful when you remove the Sharks Fin, I snapped one of the bonded retaining studs and it was an absolute sod to get the correct glue to repair it.

thanks for the info ile leave that one till summer then when the plastic is a bit warmer and not so brittle regards ray [:)]

When I removed mine,I bent an old flat blade screwdriver, about 200mm long partway at approx 30 degrees, then used this from above using a piece of an icecream packet lid as a leverage rest behind the screwdriver, having located the "plip" positions 1st.I got all out without breakage but did have spares sockets & plipper studs in case.

Just buy the bits from your OPC, they didn't cost me a fortune, If I remember I paid about 5-6£ for a couple of hanfulls of clips and retainers.
