I'VE JUST FAILED MOT BECAUSE OF "EXHAUST EMISSIONS CARBON MONOXIDE CONTENT EXCESSIVE"..
I HAVE NEVER HAD AN EXPERIENCE OF ADJUSTING MIXTURE SO I ONLY KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD - IS IT TRUE THAT THE MIXTURE CAN BE ADJUSTED ON THE AIR FLOW METER WITH AN ALLEN KEY? IF SO - NOTHING HAPPENED ADJUSTING IT - SO I WAS TOLD THAT I'M GONNA NEED TO REPLACE MY AIR FLOW METER..
FAIR ENOUGH - I JUST GOT ONE TODAY - BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT'S FROM AN '86 TURBO AND IT WON'T FIT MY '85/2 NON TURBO..[:(]

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS HOW TO GET PAST THAT PROBLEM - AT LEAST TILL I GET MY MOT DONE - I'M SURE THAT IF IT IS THE AIR FLOW METER I CAN FIND AN "NEW" USED ONE IN NEAR FUTURE BUT THE RE-TEST IS ALREADY THIS THURSDAY..

hi

you will need a AFM with the same part number as the one you have ,check the top of it and you should see a BOSCH part number thats the number you need to refer to when getting a new one, try Porsche Apart they will give you a used one for about £80 + vat, that said if your going to take a chance with a used one i just ordered one from the USA which is only £45 to my door problem being that will take 2-4 weeks so not much use to you

as for the allen key you refer to on the AFM i think thats for the idle adjustment, i am not 100% sure on that but i guess some of the other guys will be along shortly to help you

You can adjust the mixture on the AFM, but I don't know which screw it is. You need to do it with an EGA stuffed up the tailpipe so you can watch in realtime what is happening.

However, if the CO is up the spout, it may well be that the AFM is dead and needs replacing anyway.

Those more knowledgable on here will offer better advice.
