Quick Oil Query

Im using my 944 as a daily driver and noticed the oil is at the bottom of the dipstick. Its golden which is good, but needs topping up. Any recommendation for a litre of oil I can stick in, not knowing whats in there already?

I have some Mineral 10/40 at home I use on my frshly built V8 so thats the obvious chice.. But if its got synthetic in will this cause any problems.

I will be doing an oil change in the next few weeks with filter, but at the moment I have my hands full replacing my diff on my landy and don't want to risk having both off the road cos I screw up the sump plug or something on the 944.

Baically, I need to stick a litre of oil in, and surely anything better than nothing?

Castrol GTX High Mileage 20W-50 is excellent for these cars Criag, when you come to change it.

Excellent.. cheers for confirming.

I will probably use castrol GTW HM 20/50 when I get around to the oil change. What is the sump capacity btw? and are there any special priming requirements? Or do I just disconnect the coil and crank till the pressure gauge goes up then fire her up!

Cheers

5.5 litres on a series one car and the difference on the dip, max to min, is 1.3 litres.

I always like to pull the coil lead and crank until the gauge registers some pressure after an oil change.
