Quick tyre question - Falkens or Toyos?

My P6000s (front) and P7000s (rear) as fitted by the previous owner have to go as they give me absolutely no confidence in the wet. I hear good things about Falken FK452s and Toyo Proxes T1-Rs both on this forum and elsewhere and they are both keenly priced from what I can see.

Anybody got any strong opinions on either?

Feel free to recommend any others of course, although that way lies a can of worms. [;)]

Are you getting Toyos in 16 inch ie for D90s???I need some tyres very soon myself would love to here that they are a/available and b/what they are like....

I have the Toyos fitted at the moment and there my secound set on the rear, i think for what they cost there a very good tyre in the wet and dry....search for Camskill on google for a good price...never used the falcons so cant realy say anymore than that.[:)]

In my case (and along with two other friends) the Toyo T1R were a huge let down and induced dangerous handling.
However we had used them at the rear only and it seems people who have been satisfied with them fitted them all roundn, which suggests they work only when fitted all round.

Falken FK452,s for me....
As the Goodyear GSD3,s are now becoming harder to get hold of...
Try Camskill for the Falkens,,, BUT make sure they ARE FK452,s... The rest of the Falken range, are rubbish...

Can't comment about the Falken's as I've no experience of them, but have been using the Toyo's for a few sets and love them, they're a good road and track compromise.

I have the Toyo T1R's all round, as do 2 of my mates on a 911 carrera 3.2 coupe and a 928 GT, and I hear nothing but 100% positive comments from them. Personally, I think they are great, ultra grippy, smooth, quiet and cheap !!

You can't go wrong. [:D]
Totally agree with what has been said here.

Looks like Toyos are the way to go here. In answer to a previous question, these are going on standard D90s so I'll report back once sorted.

In the meantime I have now a blatant excuse to post a picture of me trying to wear out the evil Pirellis at Bedford on Saturday just gone. Alas it was quite wet, so they didn't suffer any wear at all...

P6000,s NEVER wear out... UTTER rubbish tyre....[performance wise]..
Youl notice such a BIG difference whatever tyre you fit after the P6000,s..

I know I said I was going for the Toyos but these are hard financial times, plus Elite in Horsham didn't have them in stock. So I went with the Falken FK452s, from a place Burgess Hill, who impressed me by knowing that the 944 is fussy about jacking points and their general thoroughness.

MarkK, in answer to your question, these new Falkens are much grippier than the previous Pirellis (not a surprise) and quite a bit quieter (which I wasn't expecting), and so after a hundred miles at the weekend I am very pleased with the results.

Next on the list, fit new track rod ends and a full alignment....

Glad you made the decision ... FWIW, I ordered some Kuhmo's from an online place who mucked me around something rotton and ended up delivering some Falkens in the right size ... I think they are excellent, and a good improvement over the Conti's I had on the car when I bought it. They grip better, and break away more progressively (and are a whole load cheaper).

Never tried the Toyos, but I think you'll get on well with the Falkens. They seem to be highly regarded by the 968 boys as well.
