From a great article in this month's edition of Total911 magazine written by Phil Raby:

For years, the 964 was the bottom of the 911 pecking order - it was the Porsche that no one wanted. That's changed with a vengeance now, though, as people have realised what a great 911 the 964 is, in all its guises.

Built from 1989 to 1994, the 964 helped to bridge the gap between the traditional 3.2 Carrera and the heavily revised 993. As such, today it offers an unparelled combination of classic looks and modern sophistication, and is fast becoming the Porsche 911 of choice among discerning enthusiasts.

Guys....we have made the RIGHT choice [:)]

Yes, a great article and puts the 964 up where it should be - perhaps now Total 911 will revise the lowly 2* rating that they give the Carrera 4.

Not than many for sale on 'Pistonheads' compared with some of the other models and prices would appear to be on the increase too, presumably an indication of their increase in popularity;)

I think you make a good point. The magazines are all guilty of just re-printing the same details in their technical sections. I flicked through a classic car mag only this week and found that they listed their ideas of market values which clearly had not been updated for some time - they quote a value of £7,500 to buy an average condition 964 [8|]

The media can be quite persuasive which can have a positive or conversely a negative effect. If you are told something often enough you start believing it!

Obviously we already knew the 964 was and is an awesome machine :) even with its foibles!

Has anyone seen 911 & PW,according to them a mint 964 is £25,000,mine isn't quite mint but you can take advantage of my good nature and give me £23,000 for it know while you can still afford one.I honestly can't believe I've bought a car that's increasing in value so quickly,I bought mine about three years ago, basically because it was the one I could afford, nothing to do with smart thinking or speculation just luck. What else don't the magazines think much of coz I'm going to buy one.

I got mine valued by pcgb last year and nice to see it has gone up a bit since i bought it a few years ago. I am now viewing it as an investment as well as a toy [:D]
