R10 MTB - again

The second episode of Five go mad in the Brickhill Woods is drawing near.

Richard has gone to Mexico but there are a few others who have said they are up for a few hours of mountain bike madness even though they own TVR's !

Does the weekend of the 15th & 16th November work for anyone ? If so which day is best ?

PS Do you think we'll get Jeff to drop a few axles and come out on only two wheels ?

Count me in. Sunday's are good for me, so the 16th please. Around Woburn again?
It is a month away though - do you want to get a pedal in beforehand, say around Millbrook?

Hi - count me in as well. I did Woburn from the Sandy Cross roads the other weekend with a whole bunch of folks from Singltrax - I thought i knew Woburn sort of well, but this was an excellent, new route.

How well you know the routes in Woburn "G" ?

Steve

Guys, let me know the next one (October?)

got a new bike, after too many years without one. Far too shiny at the moment and I need to break a few bits so I can upgrade to XT pieces.

P.S. last time I was in Woburn woods I got carried out and ambulanced to MK hopital for a night!!! (Bike was fine) I hit a tree mid air.

Are there still lot's of horses around in the woods?

Looks like Sunday 16th it is then. Meet at the Windmill Pub car park near Caldecotte before taking a leisurely ride to the woods. Have now got an errant Subaru WRX driver joining us as well. Harborp you are invited to join us and break some of your shiny bits ahead of an upgrade. Perhaps we can get Phil Corley to sponsor you ?

I think I sponsor Phil Corley!

Diary's getting a bit full, but I'll keep my eye on this thread and join you guys sometime soon.

Please post up any highlights/moments you have out on the trail

I am happy anytime but I know some prefer a lie in. How about 9.30 am at the Windmill Car Park again ?

PS Steve is that your car in GT Purely Porsche this month ? How much did they pay you for a centre spread ?

Yes 'twas indeed my car.

I thought it looked good, and all it cost was some old T shirts and my petrol to Norwich. Edward prep'd the engine bay as a swapsie for an old model kit I no longer wanted to make..

Whadya think ?

Steve

Not too early, I'm visiting some friends on Saturday night, and need my ugly sleep. [;)]

Actually, if we get there @ 9:00am there are a bunch of folks from Singletrack going to be there. One of them is rumoured to be the "guru" on Woburn. They meet @ the Sandy crossroads @ the top of the hill, so with parking for plenty of cars, why not meet there instead of the Windmill ?

Just a thought

Steve

That photo as your avatar looks very professional. Is that one taken by the GT Purely Porsche peeps? [8|]

OK in case anyonme has lost the thread along the way the final deal is:

Meet at 9.00 am at the 'sandy crossroads' on top of Woburn Hill. This is accessible by car from the mini roundabout in Woburn Sands or by any of the various routes up by bike.

I will be slogging up Church Hill on two wheels to get there so don't expect me to talk when I arrive. Can someone have the Bacon & Egg McMuffins ready when I get there ?

PS I have invited all sorts of odd petrolheads to come along so expect a Porsche vs TVR vs Subaru vs Motorbikes style discussion as we trundle along

Oh dear that was bit of an organisational disaster !!

The guys I was meeting en route didn't show up so I was late up to the top of the hill - about 9.15 am. When I got there the two guys from Olney were there but I couldn't find anyone else. Did I get the wrong meeting point ? I was at the top of Church Road out of Woburn Sands ?

Hope everyone had a good ride. Perhaps we should all exchange mobile numbers for the next outing ?

PS As I was wandering through the woods asking 'do you own a Porsche' I met a guy that claims to service Steve's 911 - bizarre...

Big Mac.

sorry we didn't hook up ...we waited until (I guess) 9:12... It was a little naughty of us, but it's prompted me to ask for your mobile so that it won't happen again. If you could mail it to me I'll mail you mine by return.

Who was the geezer who does the spanners on my car... it'd be strange because he's be well off the beaten track. ! Was his name Paul ??

All the best

STEVE

Our next big ride around the Woburn woods should be the next singletrack event on the 28th December. They know some lovely routes and providing they don't do the Gorse run again then it is a lot of fun.

However, I am definitely up for a pedal any (and every) Sunday leading up to then. Anyone want to join me for a pedal this weekend?
