Having just returned from Kimbolton today, I thought it was time to set out details of our Region's next main event.

Region 10's Street Concours for 2003 is being hosted at the new Porsche Centre Silverstone on Sunday 10th August between 12.00 noon and 4.00 pm. This replaces the monthly Regional Club Night for August.

Porsche Centre Silverstone is on the north side of Towcester, on the A43. Access is from a side road running past a Tesco store. Hopefully we will have parking on site for everyone, but if it is a busy meeting some may have to park on the approach road.

This is a Street Concours event, and all members are invited to take part "" both in presenting their cars but also in judging. We are aiming to use a simple point scoring and handicap system on the day, borrowed largely from Martin Nelson of R21.

Financial support for the trophies and prizes has come from Club office, Porsche Centre Silverstone, Awardco Group, and DT Concours. I would like to thank them for their support.

The rules are simple:

"¢ All entries (ie cars) must be on site by 2.00pm.
"¢ Members of R10 "" according to a list I will obtain from Cornbury House in the week before the event "" will be entitles to enter the following, depending on their car:
o Overall best car
o Best modern water-cooled (e.g. Boxter, 996, Cayenne)
o Best early water-cooled (e.g. 924, 944, 968, 928)
o Best air-cooled (e.g 911 to 993)
o Best pre-1980
"¢ There is also a "Best visitor" award for members outside Region 10.
"¢ Winners will be decided on a points system.
"¢ The winner of the "Overall best car" must return the main trophy to the serving R10 Regional Organiser, Club office or Porsche Centre Silverstone by 1 July 2004, or sooner if they leave the region.
"¢ There is no cash alternative to the prizes.
"¢ Region 10 committee decisions shall be final (committee is Pete Smallwood, Steve Darnell and myself, at this time)

This is a social event, so please take it in the spirit of friendly competition!

In the event of rain, the event may be continued or deferred to another date according the Region 10 committee's decision.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day.

Hi Mike - got the files and now getting to grips with the scoring system....I suggest we make it especially hard for all those owners of Red 964 C2' s that get polished to within a micron of their primer every 4 minutes....know anybody like this ?

Where IS Edddie these days ??

I don' t think I' ll enter my car.....an old warhorse like that doesn' t need to lift it' s skirts to show what it' s made of....[;)].

Up at Bedford Autodrome last night, I need an extra layer of factor 25 when these gleaming 18" wheels came rumbling in to the pits... I don' t stand a chance.[:(]

Big thankyou to everyone who helped organise this event. Mike, Steve, Edward, Brian Silverstone Porsche (especially for the aircon [:D])etc...

We all enjoyed it tremendously.

Any chance of posting a full list of the concours scores? I would really like to see where I ended up and what was the general consensus on my car and how my opinions matched with others.

Thanks again.

Andy, Karen, Tom and Kate

Thanks to all thos people who either helped, watched, entered, manned the PC' s, gave away goodies (Carmatrix), organised (Mike), judged, polished (in the wet...), Nic from PCGB, and of course Porsche who supported the event with all the facilities we could need.

And of course congrats to Gary Horne in his white 944 for taking TWO prizes...proof indeed (if it were needed) that Region 10(a) membership has it' s benefits.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please be upstanding, charge your glasses and drink health to " The Drainpipe" ....[;)]

Great day - well done to all

Great fun. Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation and to all of those who turned up.
Well done to Gary, Eddie (silverware and glassware now) and Martin.

Thanks also to DTConcours. Maybe in next year' s concours we can add a new spin on the judging of the exterior - the freezer bag test!

Yeh, thanks Mike, Steve, Edward and co. for all the work you put into organising this, it was a very enjoyable afternoon. I don't feel very deserving of the trophy but it's much appreciated anyway - martin

Just a quick " thank you" to everyone who turned up. Special thanks to Edward, Steve and Brian on the data entry and to all the others who helped me out on the day.

OPC Silverstone were very supportive and I must thank them too. Let us hope for a long and mutually fruitful relationship.

Mike

(PS Could Edward contact me at home, I' m off work this week (my numbers in PPost)).

To prove that the winner is indeed from Gruppe A of Region 10, here we see him demonstrating his prowess with extra thick latex gloves... mmm nice.

Well done Gary
