R10 track day

Are their any plans for another track day soon?

Would be nice to do one locally as the official club ones are all miles away.

We haven’t actually done an R10 track day as such, yet. When suggested, response was virtually non-existant for a region one. The one I went on myself was a general organised one at Bedford Autodrome (my first track day), which I would recommend you try if you fancy a local venue to have a go at this[;)]. Still good fun.

I will do that ....I have been to Bedford autodrome myself last October and really enjoyed it. I just thought it might be nice to go along with some fellow Porsche enthusiasts to join the fun. Looks like there is not much interest in R10 for such an event which is a shame.....seems like the big rallies and car shows are more popular.

Mark, Just to ask: what sort of vehicles were on-track for your sessions? I live only a couple of miles from Bedford Autodrome, so it would be good to try a session there. However, I've always been put off by the thought of having to mix it with young turks in their Fiestas and Corsas who may not be as cautious as the average Porsche driver. Hence I've always stuck to PCGB track days where everyone's driving a Porsche and there are fewer cars on-track than on most open track days. Jeff

Jeff- There were a mix of ‘young turks’ and others on my first track day there, but all very good-natured and no problems at all. When it comes down to it, if anyone is going to be a berk (of any age) on the track, driving without consideration for others, there are plenty of officials keeping an eye on them and they will hopefully be stopped, if necessary. Of course, it’s not a race and everyone needs to respect each others’ cars and driving capabilities [;)]. On my sessions, I was fortunate that there were less than average number of cars on track - so plenty of room usually. Anyway, I had a great day and will do it again sometime if possible.

Thanks Paul. I'm probably just being over-cautious. Unfortunately I couldn't make the one organised earlier this year by Chris, but would be up for it next time - if there is another one..! Maybe a spring/summer session would gain more support. Sorry, but I can't make next Saturday's meeting but hope to be able to get to the PEC next month. Jeff

When I went there were quite a few BMW M3s, Caterhams, Westfields, Lotus Exiges, a Nissan GTR and a Maclaren as well as a lovely Porsche GT2 and a few Mazda MX5s as their owners club was there. Driving standards were very good but there were a couple of prangs! Bedford Autodrome is a safe circuit as the run off is all grass so no barriers to hit! If there is interest later in the year I would be up for it. Mark

Silverstone would be a good next step after Bedford. Then Donington. It would have to be a weekday or evening for me - I don't have weekends free during the race season! Chris.

Sorry to have dropped the ball on this - I've gotten involved with writing race reports and taking photos for two more championships this season, so I have even fewer spare weekends. If anyone wants to have a go at Brands Hatch Indy on a Porsche only evening, have a look at this - Monday 22nd June. http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/calendar/2015/june/22-bh-gtporsche.aspx Chris.

Potential dates for early next year:

Saturday 30th January 2016 - Bedford Autodrome SEN - MSV - £89

Saturday 6th February - Bedford Autodrome - OpenTrack - £139

Saturday 13th February 2016 - Bedford Autodrome SEN - MSV - £119

Not all of the TDOs have released their calendars yet - including GoldTrack.

Chris.

There's a fairly cheap day on Bedford's GP circuit on Saturday 20th Feb 2016 if anyone's interested. Booking through here:

There should be a few Boxsters there.

Chris.
