PCGB Region 13 Hereford, Worcester & Shropshire
Region 13 Report for November 2011.
A bit of a shock this morning when I went past the Bowling Green. A sign up saying "Closed, in Liquidation" ! No message from them to tell me we could not go there.
What to do ? I first thought about the Pear Tree Inn, where we had gone before. Then I thought, what about trying the Chateau Impney ? I did and that is to be our "˜home' in the future, starting next February, Tuesday the 28th. In January of course, we shall be at the Bell Inn, Broadheath.
I put a notice on R13 forum and contacted all the regulars I could by telephone. Steve Cutler went to the Chateau and met all who went straight there. Joan and I went to the Bowling Green, one couple turned up and we sent them on to the Chateau. No one else came by 8-15 and it was rather cold just sitting there, so we also went to the Chateau.
By which time, Steve's film show was in session. I had some business with the manager and then joined them. Again, Steve did us proud with his arrangements. Varying between, 50th, Isle of Mann and other excerpts including "˜Art' and Seals.
We discussed forthcoming events and several put their names down for Prodrive and Morgan visits.
The skittles and dinner evening at the Bell Inn, is proving popular, several paying me there and then, to join in. If you want to go, please send me a cheque made out to PCGB and marked on the back, "˜skittles' in the sum of £10 per person.
A week end is proving popular to visit Prodrive. For a three hour tour of the factory, at the week end, they charge £22 with a limit of 20 people. (Now, why is that doing that ?) I already have 18 names down. If there is a sudden rush, I shall have to arrange two visits. I am aiming to do this in April but am still waiting to fit in with Porsche Championships, so watch this space. Please await instructions for payment.
Morgan visit, I aim to do in March and will post the date later but it will be in the week. Charge now £10, I think, on the day.
NEWS Steve is now posting a Diary, on the R13 web site. Please keep up to date with this. I write this report, after the last Tuesday of the month meeting. If you rely on Porsche Post, you may not see it for three weeks or more. However, it will normally be on the web site, the day I send it to Club Office. Also we are arranging for all e mail addressees to be reminded of meetings and upcoming events. With a more prestigious meeting place and better information output, hopefully we can increase attendance.
FORTHCOMING EVENTS.
31st January Skittles and Dinner at the Bell Inn
28th February Morgan Talk
27th March Swissvax
May, Thursday 17th Curborough
26th June Concours night at the Chateau Impney. Our main and we shall not be joining others, but they are welcome.
Steve and I, wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.........John
